Inspiring Conversations with Misty Malec

Hi Misty, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started hosting at a club in Tampa, Florida, in 2011. Shortly after I started hosting there, I started booking open mics. During that time, I also landed a radio show on DJ Clue’s Desert Storm Radio, where I spent three years.

In 2012, I launched my two companies, Mystics Entertainment LLC and Industries Most Wanted LLC. Between the two, I offer Promo services to independent artists, small businesses, etc. I also launched my ‘Industries Most Wanted’ podcast, in which I’ve had the opportunity to interview thousands of guests over the last 12 years.

I relocated to the Atlanta area in 2013 and spent six years as a radio personality on Highly Unique Radio. I’m now a Radio personality Monday through Friday at 8 p.m. on WDJY 99.1 FM in Atlanta. In 2020, I launched my Internet-based radio station, The Hype 87.3, dedicated to independent artists.

My business partner, Bigga Rankin, and I have a beautiful studio called Creative Media Zone in Norcross, Georgia.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
For the most part, it has been a smooth journey. Transitioning from working in the corporate world to being a full-time small business owner was a little tough in the beginning financially.

Fortunately, now I have a beautiful client base.

Mystics Entertainment LLC offers promotional services, press releases, blog services & more. Industries Most Wanted LLC is known for its long-standing podcast & which, most recently, I introduced in-studio performances. I take pride in offering quality services at an affordable rate.

On my podcast, I interview music artists, business owners & entrepreneurs.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the culture! I’ve been coming to Atlanta since the 90s, where I had the opportunity to attend Freaknik for two years. That made me fall in love with the city. I love that there is so much opportunity here to grow small businesses. The thing I like the least is the traffic!
