Today we’d like to introduce you to Milan.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
There was a time when my dream job was a marine biologist and I’d be saving Orcas around the world. However, I started working in I.T. in order to pay for my college courses. By the time I completed my associates degree in applied science I had years of technical support under my belt. My vibrant experience in technology lead me down a path of computer building and broadcasting in the gaming community. After a big move from Oregon to Georgia, I made the decision to pursue content creation full-time in video games.
This new adventure lead me down a wonderful path of music festivals, cosplay conventions, and so much more. I worked as a free-lance creator from 2019-2022 before I joined my current role as a community manager, producer, and content creator for antonline.
I’m blessed to have my first role in the gaming industry with a salary. Now, I plan broadcasts around AAA Game releases and Host events with internet personalities.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s never a smooth road when you start working for yourself. You’re accountable for your time and effort. You’re responsible for every outcome. There would be days where I couldn’t get myself up to work and I’d lay the blame on myself for slacking. Now, I always tell myself, “If I knew half of what I knew today, when I started, then I would have done everything different.”
The biggest struggle was finding the right balance between broadcasting, marketing, production, and personal life events. Once I found the right formula, I started to see my efforts bloom.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m the community manager and on-air talent for a one of America’s leading online retailers, AntOnline. I started my role with the company as a broadcaster and grew towards the manager role where I lead a team of streamers and content creators. We build content based on the hottest new games and technology. We work with manufactures like Nvidia, Intel, AMD, Microsoft, Xbox, ASUS, and so many more.
We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
About 20 years ago, downtown Portland, Oregon was a dream city. During Christmas, you could rent horse carriages, decked with holly, and ride around the city with your loved ones. I have a wonderful memory of my grandma taking my cousins, brothers, and I.
I was at the age where I was taking horse-back riding lessons, so the driver asked if I wanted to try driving the carriage. I was so excited when I grabbed onto those reins, steering the horse down Portland’s streets under a starry holiday evening.
