Check Out Sarah Gearhart’s Story

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Gearhart.

Sarah Gearhart

Hi Sarah, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I used to own a paint your own pottery studio, and I sold it and moved back home to Marietta at the very start of 2020. Shortly after that, Covid happened, and with all these crazy life changes happening at once, I completely lost my desire to do anything artistic. Well, we know how that year went. I ended up getting Covid over the summer and was stuck at home for over a month.

I was bored out of my mind, and for the first time in a long time, I actually felt like I wanted to create something. I had already been making some wooden signs for fun, but it got to a point where I was so sick I could barely get off of the couch. Around the same time, my sister asked if I could make her a card for her upcoming anniversary with her then-boyfriend (now husband), so I got out my Surface Pro and got to drawing.

This was the first time it had crossed my mind to try making cards, and I honestly didn’t really think anyone would be interested in it. After drawing it out and spending probably four days trying to perfect the settings on my printer for printing it out, I realized that making cards may just be a new favorite hobby of mine.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story. Has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
One of the hardest things about running Gearhart Design Co. is finding the time to do everything. In addition to running my business full time, I also work a 9-5 and try to maintain somewhat of a normal routine (but usually fail at this).

It’s easy for me to come home from my day job, work all night (usually until about 1-2 a.m.), and then do it all over again. I’ve always been the type of person who has a hard time relaxing, and it’s difficult for me to take time for myself to just relax, but I’ve learned that if I don’t, burnout is inevitable. Taking a day off is hard for me to do, but it’s important for both my mental and physical health.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe you can tell us more about your work next?
I make greeting cards, stickers, notepads, and other fun stuff. But these are not things you would find in any basic store. It’s all a little spicy and basically what you are thinking but too afraid to say out loud. I love making products that will guarantee a laugh and will brighten someone’s day.

So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
I sell all of my products online and try to sell at art markets at least every other weekend, if not every weekend. You can always find my schedule on my website, Instagram, or Facebook, and I would love for you to come see me in person if you’re around! And if you haven’t already, you can follow me on my socials to stay up to date on all of my new products!
