Today, we’d like to introduce you to Shanna Blackburn.

Hi Shanna, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Shanna Blackburn, and I am a Metro Atlanta-based wedding and family photographer. My photography journey began when I was very young. There have always been several professional photographers in my family, and I was SO fascinated with their gear and equipment.

I had some point-and-shoot film cameras growing up, and I still have boxes and boxes full of photos from my middle and high school years. Fast forward to 2018, my husband gifted me my first “big girl” DSLR for our wedding, as he knew it was my dream to get back into photography.

From there, it has been a season of learning, growing, and finding my style as I serve my wedding and portrait clients!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has been a wonderful journey.

Once I knew my camera and how to operate it, I have chosen one “thing” to learn at a time as I continued to expand my client base. As my skills and knowledge grew, I also had to refine my business skills, SEO and marketing… because we all know that just taking pretty pictures isn’t the basis of a successful business.

One challenge along the way has been overcoming doubt in myself. I have gotten to the point where I know I do a great job and that I deliver an excellent experience, so I have learned to find peace and rest in that.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a wedding and portrait photographer, specializing in colorful, bright, and joyful photos. I am known for my timeless and classic style of photography, as well as delivering an excellent experience from beginning to end with my clients.

I am most proud that I have stayed true to what I believe in throughout my photography journey. I have never jumped onto trends as far as editing and style go, and my portfolio has been very consistent throughout the years.

I believe what sets me apart are my people skills and organization. As a teacher, I try to be highly prepared for wedding days on the back end, but I also walk into the day with open hands and an open heart for whatever the day throws at us.

I am flexible, creative, and can think on the spot and problem solve very well. I can move people and direct large crowds QUICKLY and I can also be invisible and capture candid moments.
