Today we’d like to introduce you to Demetrius Dukes

Hi Demetrius, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I started playing around with nails very young. At the age of 11, my mother started investing in me as I was doing nails for family or women at my church. Fast forward to high school, I was still interested in nails so my mom enrolled me in the Aiken County Career Center where I started the nail program my senior year. I was able to graduate as a licensed nail tech and I’ve been doing nail since.

Because I love nails so much I decided to get my nail instructor license in 2017 so I could teach classes. Since then I have taught over 400 nail techs with my group and one on one classes!

I opened my own nail salon April of 2018 as well!

As of 2024, I have added my esthetician license under my belt as well. I enjoy servicing people but I was burning myself out with just doing nails. That’s when I decided to go back to school so I can add more services to my salon. Skin care is going to be my main focus with my Esthetician license because I want to cater to people of color. I’m in the process of learning more about our skin so I can teach my clients how to properly take care of their skin, give them product knowledge, give them the confidence while helping them with their skin care needs and more!

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
My main struggle was adjusting to being a business owner/entrepreneur and being a new mom. I had to rearrange a lot of things within my business. But I have an amazing clientele that understood though! I just had to find that balance and still working on it!

Being a business owner and working in the beauty industry has its ups and downs but things have been pretty smooth! I’m always praying over my business so things always work out.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about QueenD Nails & Esthetics ?
I am a licensed nail instructor and the owner of QD Nail Bar. I specialize in nail enhancements, pedicures and skincare. I also mentor and teach nail classes!

What sets me apart from others is the love and passion I have for the beauty industry! I go over and beyond to make sure my clients feel special not only while being serviced but once they become a client of mine! I offer luxury services and my professionalism is top tier.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Being a mom makes me happy! My son is 4 and he tells everyone about how his mom has a “nail store”!

Also, being able to be THAT business owner that clients love and appreciate! My professionalism and services are rare in todays beauty industry!
