Today we’d like to introduce you to Jayden Mosley
Jayden, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Jayden Mosley and I’m from Sandy Springs Georgia.
My story began when I was five years old, where my father took me to watch The Blue Angels perform at Dobbins Air force base in Marietta. Watching the blue angels perform their sophisticated stunts truly sparked my interest in aviation. From then, on all I wanted to do was learn about airplanes. I thank my Mother Lamantha Mosley and my father Alvin Mosley for investing so much into my Aviation journey, they both bought me remote control airplanes that I soon learned to build and fly around eight years old.
My love for aviation didn’t stop there, as I began my flight training when I turned 16 years old. Learning to fly was a huge step for me! Saying you want to be a pilot and becoming a pilot differ drastically; flying an airplane is a true test to the mental, physical, and even spiritual aspects of my life. There were countless moments where I felt like flying might not be for me, however by the grace of God I stood on my journey. Philippians 4:13 ” I can do all things through him who strengthens me.” This verse is so powerful to me, because it changed the way I looked at a challenge. Since I knew that god was greater than any thing I would face throughout training, I wasn’t fearful.
There was no greater moment than earning my Private Pilots License at the age of 17 in the summer of 2023. Being able to hold my license with the woman that made it all possible, my Aunt Sharron Hastie, was a monument in my life. Her investment in me shaped my dream of being a pilot into a tangible reality. Since earning my pilot’s license in 2023 I’ve logged over 215 flight hours, enjoying every second of it.
I’m currently a freshman at the University of Middle Tennessee State, majoring in Professional Pilot. I plan to finish my flight training here, then take my talents to an airline.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No! It hasn’t been smooth.
Being an entrepreneur, pilot, and college student all at the same time is very challenging. The biggest challenge I faced was developing a posture of patients. In launching my clothing company, The Pilot’s Apparel, I wanted my company to be successful the from the first day of launch, not realizing what it takes to develop a sustainable business model. Then again, God was teaching me something. Instead of him giving me success instantly, he wanted me to show that my faith in him and my works are aligned. What good is a prayer without action? James 2:17 “So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.” I took this mindset and applied it to developing a consistent grind with my company, not being so focussed on immediate success but rather building an effective system.
Another significant challenge is marketing. Since I started from scratch, I didn’t have access to the best marketing strategy to getting the brand known in the aviation industry; it can cost an arm and a leg to develop brand hype. That said, it’s very fun watching us grow and collect small wins. I’ll never forget my first clothing drop. I purchased a lot of pieces thinking it would blow up only to sell a fraction of what I purchased… yikes. I took this instance as a lesson, now I’ve developed a plan to buy less but market more.
As you know, we’re big fans of The Pilot’s Apparel. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Since earning my pilots license I launched my company called The Pilot’s Apparel. The Pilot’s Apparel is an aviation inspired clothing brand, targeting aviation professionals and enthusiasts. Our mission is simple yet moving: we aim to provide a high level of style, functionality, and comfort to our customers. We will also make an in impact in the aviation industry by offering scholarships to future pilots.
I started The Pilot’s Apparel because, when I began my flight training I realized that I had nothing nice to wear while flying. This made me want to develop a wardrobe for flying. From there merged my love for aviation and my new interest in clothing into a singular company.
The Pilot’s Apparel is different because it allows people to wear their passion. We are super proud of our ability to get aviation professionals and enthusiasts to connect through our clothing. I want readers to know that our clothing isn’t limited to just pilots because The Pilot’s Apparel is more importantly a lifestyle!
So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
Impact matters to me tremendously. When it’s all said and done I don’t care if people say “Jayden had a nice car, wore a nice watch, or dressed really well. I want them to be able to say “Jayden made an impact in my life.” I really hope people can take my journey as a true testament to God’s grace. I’m not a brilliant person by any means, but by his grace I’ve been able to do brilliant things.
