Inspiring Conversations with Daniel Nagel of The Nagel Law Firm, LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Nagel

Hi Daniel, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been a lifelong ATLien living all forty-plus years in Clayton County. I graduated law school in Atlanta and started working for the state’s largest criminal defense firm. I did that for about a year then switched to prosecution as an Assistant District Attorney for Clayton County. I handled all felonies from drug charges to capital offenses. I was able to gain valuable trial experience with more than fifteen jury trials. I also handled my own appeals – all successfully upheld.
I then began working in personal injury in 2017. I started at a small firm in Norcross. I worked there for about a year and a half before joining one of the largest firms in Atlanta. At the time, the firm did not have experience in personal injury. After I came on board, I became the head personal injury attorney supervising eight attorneys. I then became the managing attorney of the firm and supervised over twenty attorneys and over one-hundred staff members. I worked there for two years before deciding to start my own firm.
Since 2021 I’ve ran my own firm – 100% virtually. I have staff in different parts of the city as well in South America. We specialize in cases where people are injured due to the negligence of others or on the job.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There are always challenges when starting your own business. Even small things such as how expensive office equipment (pens, paper, printers, ink, and subscriptions) is. Trying to account for all of the small things it takes to make your business function is extremely time-intensive.
The other challenging thing is having confidence in yourself. Confidence to find customers every day to keep yourself in business. It isn’t just you who relies on the business, it’s your employees, your family, and their families.

We’ve been impressed with The Nagel Law Firm, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My firm is based in Clayton County – my home county. I have more than a decade of trial experience and have handled more than 1,000 personal injury cases. I am known for being extremely aggressive when it comes to resolving the cases for my clients. Even though I am aggressive, I am very courteous to the other side, even when they do not deserve it. I believe what sets me apart is my attitude of not being afraid to be wrong. There are too many lawyers who practice law afraid to be wrong. I push the envelope for my clients until a judge tells me I can go no further.

I’m most proud of my brand because it is built on a solid reputation. The quality of representation you get from my firm is felt because you deal with me directly. When clients need to hear from the owner – they do. Also, I make fun of “billboard” lawyers. I make fun of the way lawyers in Atlanta advertise because it is so over the top. I want to be known as your lawyer – no matter what the issue is. I want people to see my posts, videos, and social media and think to themselves “I really like that guy”.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is being a good person. It sounds very simple but a lot of people get lost in their successes and failures. It’s very easy to succumb to the glamorous lifestyle and get caught up in the hype. It is also easy to become down on yourself when things are not going your way. You have to find a way to balance those things out and I believe you can by doing right by everyone and yourself.
