Tangela , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I saw a need within the LGBTQ community, specifically women of color, who had vision but lacked the resources and/or the voice to put action to their vision. Because building business and facilitating personal and business growth was my niche, life coaching seemed the most viable means to help those women. After nearly 20 years in the business, partnering my skillset with my career as a global trainer, my calling has been validated over and over. Since saying yes to to a coaching career, I have been ordained as an elder, licensed as a minister, and my expertise in helping clients from different backgrounds, ethnicities, genders, and orientation, has earned me the title of Certified Master Life Coach. I love what I do and I do what I love. It is infused in all that I do. My husband says often ‘please don’t ‘coach’ me’ when we are having a serious discussion. It speaks to the fact that I am who I am intrinsically. LOL.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Coaching has not been a smooth road. Sometimes, people expect miracles. People want microwave solutions for years of trauma. Sometimes they want solutions ‘coached away’. There are times that I must defer and/or refer. There are times when a client needs medication or a medical solution for which they are seeking topical therapy. Easy are the fixes that require a simple ‘I’m sorry’. Difficult are the fixes that require an ‘I forgive you’. Sometimes solutions free the client but weigh heavy on me long after the client is happy, healthy, and moving along with their life’s goals. It just proves that the therapist needs therapy too. Education and learning are the easy parts. Hearing the heartbreaks, wanting to step in to ‘fix’ the issues but knowing that the client has to ‘do the work’ makes coaching very challenging. However, when the client ‘does the work’ the reward is oh so sweet!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Tangela Washington LLC?
Tangela Washington is my name and my brand. I have spent my entire life building myself as my brand. I am well-travelled, educated, and spiritual. I believe in the intrinsic value of people and that we all have multiple gifts and talents that we barely tap into. I further believe that all meetings between humans are intentional and that the encounters leave each other with something we each need. It is up to each person to take from the encounter.
A large part of my belief system is rooted in the fact that we are the Imago Dei – the Image of God. As such, there is very little that is not available to us, that we cannot do, or that we cannot have. I believe in the pie in the sky and the word ‘No’ is rarely a part of my vocabulary.
I am most proud of the fact that anyone who knows me will say the same about me as I have written above. My life is real. My beliefs are lived out loud. I love authentically.

PS, I own Tangela Washington, LLC a Personal and Business Development firm. I am the Regional Director at Jani King of Atlanta -a Marketing company in Norcross GA. I am a Network Marketing professional with PlanNet Marketing, and a Travel Coach with Inteletravel. I started my own Sorority – Alpha Alpha Zeta, Sorority, Inc. in September of 2022 and I am a published author. I am an actress – premiered on the Prime TV show ‘Transworld Atlanta.
