Today we’d like to introduce you to Isaiah Owens (AKA Iro)
Isaiah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I graduated college with my Associate’s degree May 4, 2020, and during that time was when Covid was just starting and I was also filming basketball players such as Emoni Bates. I knew that I wasn’t going to be able to film basketball games for a while so I decided that I knew that I needed to find something in the meantime to keep my passion for what I love to do. I then started to teach myself Graphic design and create flyers for basketball players to have a cool post to post on their Instagram page for committing to the school they were going to. Then shortly after that I started to think about getting into photography which was something I never wanted to get into, so I took a leap of faith when I saw a post from my now mentor Jaylin “Jet Mitchell” and it was a workshop for beginners that wanted to get into photography. I went to the event and I got to learn the basics of Photography and honesty fell involved with it. Then December came around and he opened a studio and was offering free studio rentals and I knew that was my chance to officially get in the studio and really learn photography and learn how to pose models. I had someone cancel on me and my mentor gave me an idea for a modeling workshop for people that wanted to get into modeling. I had an amazing event and over 15+ people come to learn and take photos. From there I was doing photoshoots every single month, sometimes every weekend. Now I have my own modeling Agency and published one of my models named Jozlyn Thomas in A Magazine. I’ve been able to help a lot of people that want to get into modeling, start their career in it and take it far and serious. I am now doing lots of work for magazines and building my modeling Agency called IROS Intellectuals where I’ve signed over 8+ models to get their modeling career off the ground.
Fast forward to now I have been a photographer now for 4 straight years. I have now been published in over 5 plus articles and magazines. I also help a lot with not just taking my Models/Clients photos I also help them with marketing strategies. The reason I do that is because as a model you need to know how to market yourself the type of bookings that you want. Instagram is a major platform that I have been able to master the Algorithm to know what times and what are the best days for me to drop content. With that I am able to teach a lot of those skills to Models. Models that have been published by me have gone on to do great things and I believe that is just a testament of my work and that my marketing strategies have been working.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road definitely has not been easy at all. I know now what it means to stay relevant as a photographer for almost four years now. I was around 21/22 when I started photography now I am 26 years old. Life for me has changed drastically, I shoot different content than I did 4 years ago. Just recently have fell back involve with taking photos. Sometimes life hits you really hard and you have to think hard on what It is that you want out of life and what you want your legacy to be after you have finished your course. Some of the struggles that I had while on this long road has been recently do I want to still be a photographer, how am I going to make a way for myself to get my content out there on bigger platform. A lot of that was being discouraged because I have shot a lot of content and worked with a lot of people that I wanted to so it feels like I have accomplished almost everything that I wanted to do as a photographer. I now have figured out what type of photographer I want to be and also adding more of my marketing skills to my price packages. The one thing that has kept me together as photographer and not wanting to give up is God. I know that having trust in God has brung me a long way and told me as long as I trust him I will figure everything else out. I did just that and now I have become a household name in the metro Detroit area as great photographer.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is my relationship with God because without him I wouldn’t be where I am at right now. I wouldn’t be the photographer that I am . Being able to inspire others with my content really does matter to me because I love hearing from others that I have inspired them to become photographers. That right there means the world to me it lets me know that I am doing something great in life. I know that I can’t give up as a photographer an that I have to keep producing the great content that I bring and that 2025 my year to do that.
