Rising Stars: Meet Jessica Renee’ of Downtown, Atlanta, GA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jessica Renee’

Jessica , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My passion for hair started back in high school. I’ve always had a strong sense of style, a creative spirit, and a love for beauty, especially when it came to hair! I remember waking up extra early just to have more time to perfect my hairstyles before school. At the time, I wasn’t sure if it was just a phase or if it was something I truly wanted to turn into a career.

So, like many others, I explored different paths. I attended Lander University, then joined the Army and once my contract came to an end, I tried my hand at freelance makeup, but none of those paths felt like the right fit for me. I even tried an office job! But I knew I wanted a career that would challenge my creativity, so I started constructing lace wigs. While I enjoyed the process, something was missing—it felt too impersonal. That’s when I began installing the wigs, and the reactions I received confirmed what I had been searching for all along, I had found my passion! There’s nothing more rewarding than helping people feel beautiful inside and out.

Discovering my ideal career was surprisingly easy, but the journey to success wasn’t always smooth. It took a lot of prayer, dedication, sacrifice, commitment, time, and discipline to get to where I am today. There were challenges along the way, but I embraced every obstacle as part of my growth.

And now, here I am—breathing in success and striving for more every day! A licensed cosmetologist, celebrity hairstylist, and salon owner—who would have thought?

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey hasn’t been without its challenges! There have been many struggles along the way, and I continue to face some even now. To name a few, building the confidence to start my own business, trusting in my career plan, putting myself out there to attract clients, and most challenging of all, accepting that success often comes hand in hand with both wins and setbacks.

Through it all, I’ve learned how to manage these obstacles and turn them into valuable lessons that have helped me grow both personally and as a business owner.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’ve always viewed hair as a form of art! Metaphorically speaking, every head is a blank canvas, coloring is like painting, and styling is what brings the entire masterpiece to life. As someone who loves challenges, I chose to specialize in wig installations—a skill I’ve become best known for. When people hear the word “wig,” they often think of something unnatural, but the true artistry lies in making the impossible look real. Whether it’s recreating someone’s natural hairline or designing one they’ve always dreamed of, I take pride in bringing that vision to life.

What makes me most proud is the fact that I taught myself the ins and outs of this business. While there will always be those who came before me, my goal is to become someone others look up to as a blueprint for success. My vision for the future and the goals I’ve set for myself are what truly set me apart.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always a happy and loving person, full of positive energy! Interestingly, I was more into sports during my younger years. I also had a passion for drawing, but I never imagined that my artistic talent would one day translate into a career in hair.
