Today we’d like to introduce you to Breana Morrison
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My creative journey began early in my childhood, where I spent much of my time drawing, painting, and making short films. When I started college at Georgia State University, I discovered graphic design and immediately fell in love with it. Through my studies, I was able to cultivate my creative identity, embracing a passion for bold colors and dynamic compositions. After graduating, I launched my freelance business, BM Design LLC, where I work on a diverse range of projects, from book designs to logos, murals, and more. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of building meaningful connections, which has led me to where I am today.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I would say one of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been establishing myself during the pandemic and other economic uncertainties. As I’m still relatively new to the design world, building trust and making my clients feel secure in my abilities has been a significant hurdle. There was also a period where I wasn’t quite sure which niche I wanted to focus on, and that uncertainty ultimately led me to pursue freelancing.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Illustrator and Graphic Designer, and my work is always evolving—each day brings something new and different. I often find myself working on a wide range of projects that can be completely different from one another. Recently, I’ve had the opportunity to collaborate with restaurants on mural paintings and have also started exploring the worlds of sports and marketing. One project I’m especially proud of is a recent mural I completed for a Caribbean restaurant called Platinum Grill—it was a piece I truly poured a lot of effort into. As for my work in sports, I’m excited to see where that path will take me in the future and look forward to the opportunities it may bring.
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
While it may sound simple, the most important lesson I’ve learned is to never give up. Every time you doubt yourself, you’re essentially giving someone else an opportunity that could have been yours. I’ve also come to realize that it’s perfectly okay to ask for help or seek guidance. I used to be quite shy about this, which often made things more difficult for me. Lastly, I’ve learned the importance of knowing my worth. There was a time when I second-guessed myself frequently, and that allowed others to take advantage. By standing my ground and believing in myself, I’ve been able to take bigger strides than I ever imagined.
