Today we’d like to introduce you to Audrey Herrera Christen Griffis
Hi Audrey Herrera, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Audrey: “My journey in the beauty industry began over ten years ago after graduating with my Cosmetology diploma and starting my career as a hairstylist. As my clientele and love for makeup grew, I started doing bridal makeup for friends and quickly realized I could make brides feel confident on their special day and since then, I’ve wanted to make all brides feel that way. I then teamed up with Christen, by business partner, and began doing weddings on the weekends and this is where my true passion for the bridal industry was born. Fast forward a few years and a couple hundred weddings later – Bride Meets Glam is now a thriving business and includes a few new, amazing girls on our beauty team. Currently, I work at North West Salon in Jasper, Georgia as a Master Cosmetologist. I specialize in blonding, custom colors and balayage, but my true passion is wedding hair and bridal makeup.”
Christen: “Similar to Audrey, I began my career as a hairstylist almost 15 years ago and we have worked hundreds of weddings across the Southeast together. In the summer of 2024, I finally hung up my apron at the salon and traded in hand-painting balayage for painting full-time on canvases. I am now living my ultimate dream: painting landscapes from around the world, helping run our business remotely, and styling wedding hair during the busiest seasons. My husband, son, and I live half of the year in a small town in the Patagonia region of Argentina and the other half of the year in my hometown, Jasper, Georgia. This exciting new journey has given me a fresh business perspective, the time for a fresh re-branding, and strategizing our next steps for Bride Meets Glam. I consider myself extremely lucky and very grateful for the opportunities life has given me.”
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Christen: “I think overall it has been a smooth road, but in any business there are always challenges to overcome. In our case, the journey has been easier than most because Audrey and I make an extraordinary team, and our mindset has primed us for success. We have learned to navigate simple obstacles such as time management with team members across scheduling apps, streamlining our communication process with potential brides, and staying educated on the most up-to-date bridal styles and makeup trends. The bridal world is constantly evolving, and we both have always seen this industry as one of the most challenging, yet exciting to be a part of!”
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Bride Meets Glam?
Audrey: “Bride Meets Glam is a traveling team that helps the bride eliminate stress by bringing hair and makeup services directly to the venue on their wedding day. Our process includes assessing our bride’s specific wants and needs, customizing a specialty package for the bride and bridal party, and offering pre-wedding trial runs for hair and makeup. We accommodate much larger wedding parties, thanks to our team of talented assistants, and cater to a dedicated timeline. We also offer an all-day rate to follow the bride during all photography sessions and maintain the bride’s perfection with constant touch-ups. The all-day rate includes an optional second hair and makeup style for the reception: such a fun and popular bridal trend right now!
Bride Meets Glam has worked hundreds of weddings across the Southeast at some of the most exquisite venues and are also available for destination weddings. BMG is a preferred wedding vendor at the Historic Tate House in Jasper, Georgia and Brasstown Valley Resort in Hiawassee, Georgia. We pride ourselves on being punctual and professional, no matter how early the start time, and above all – delivering beautiful results.”
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Christen: “Let’s say one day you decide to move to another country and are faced with the challenge of running your company remotely from Argentina… I’d say that’s the biggest risk I’ve taken thus far! I’m currently 5,400 miles away from Georgia and thanks to my business partner, Audrey, we are still fully capable of running Bride Meets Glam. I specialize in bridal hair, but this enormous risk has given me the opportunity to do what I love the most during the off-season: painting landscapes and exploring Patagonia with my family. This risk has also given me the much-needed time to think creatively about our business strategies, social media, and create a brand new website! To add one of my favorite quotes: “If you do what you’ve always done, you’ll get what you’ve always gotten” – Tony Robbins. I cannot overstate the importance of taking risks in the right ways and huge leaps into the unknown – this is where we grow in life and in business.”
