Hidden Gems: Meet Cassie Parlotto of Joiful Yoga

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cassie Parlotto.

Hi Cassie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Joiful’s story began at the end of 2019. I had been living in Sandy Springs for a few years and was frustrated by the lack of local yoga options that fit my schedule. I had been growing—mind, body, and soul—but I didn’t have a community to share this part of myself with.

Over the holiday break, I visited a yoga studio in a neighboring city. It was everything I had been searching for—yoga, meditation, book clubs, and retreats—but it was too far to attend regularly once work resumed. During my last class there, while resting in savasana, I found myself almost yelling at God:

“This is what I want! I want yoga! And meditation! And a community! But it needs to be in Sandy Springs!”

I kept repeating my frustration until, suddenly, something mystical happened. The entire space became clear, and I heard a loud voice say:

“That is what you are going to build.”

As startling as it was, the message was so clear and concise that I knew it was meant for me. I immediately started down the path of opening a yoga studio. And then—2020 happened. The world shut down, and the dream went dormant.

Fast forward to 2023. My husband and I were taking our first trip together since Covid began. While he skied, I spent my time doing yoga, meditating, and reading. Over and over, I kept feeling a nudge in the back of my mind:

“Maybe it’s time to revisit the yoga studio.”

At first, I ignored it. But the feeling became so persistent that I had to stop and listen. Finally, I asked God/the Universe:

“If this is really what you want me to do, show me—because this is going to take a lot of time, energy, and money.”

Within 24 hours, I received my sign.

“Okay,” I thought. “I’ll put it on my to-do list.” I figured it would take a year or two to sort out the details. I hadn’t even mentioned it to my husband yet—I wasn’t in a hurry.

Then, the unexpected happened.

We got home from vacation on a Tuesday. That same day, I joined my local yoga studio, thinking I should start practicing more regularly if I was serious about opening one.

Five days later, an email landed in my inbox:

“We are selling the Sandy Springs location. There is a turnkey yoga studio opportunity for anyone interested…”

Gulp.

The studio was within walking distance of my house.

It was time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I couldn’t help but laugh at this question—because of course, it hasn’t been a smooth road!

About two months after opening, right at the start of summer, our AC went out. Fixing it was a five-figure expense. And that was just the beginning. Along the way, we faced plenty of challenges, including:

Three roof leaks in just a few months

An instructor accidentally leaving the tea kettle on overnight, which almost started a fire

The difficult decision to let go of instructors we genuinely liked and cared about

Facing uncomfortable truths when data revealed insights we didn’t want to see

Rejection—beloved members leaving, sometimes to join another studio

Through it all, I’ve learned that obstacles aren’t roadblocks; they’re part of the journey. Each challenge has strengthened both me and the studio, helping us grow in ways we never expected.

We’ve been impressed with Joiful Yoga, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Joiful isn’t just a yoga studio—it’s a community, a sanctuary, and a place for transformation.

At Joiful, we specialize in blending traditional yoga practices with a deep emphasis on mind-body-soul connection. We offer a variety of classes, including Vinyasa, Yin, Kundalini, and meditation, sound baths, along with unique workshops designed to nurture personal growth and self-discovery.

What sets us apart is our holistic approach—we don’t just focus on movement; we integrate breathwork, energy healing, and mindfulness practices to create a truly immersive experience. We are known for our warm, welcoming environment where students of all backgrounds and experience levels feel at home.

What makes Joiful special?

Personalized approach – Whether you’re stepping into your first class or deepening your existing practice, we meet you where you are.

Sacred space – Our studio is intentionally designed to be a peaceful retreat from the outside world, allowing you to reconnect with yourself.

Brand-wise, we are most proud of the authenticity and depth we bring to the yoga community. Joiful Yoga isn’t about trendy poses or competition—it’s about transformation, healing, and creating a space where people feel seen, supported, and empowered.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I feel incredibly qualified to answer this question because I live, work, and play in Sandy Springs. It’s truly a wonderful place to raise a family, own a business, and enjoy everything the city has to offer.

What I love most about Sandy Springs is its commitment to growth and community. The city is constantly evolving, with new sidewalks and bike paths making it more accessible and walkable. It’s exciting to see Sandy Springs becoming a place where people can gather, connect, and truly feel at home.

Community is one of our core values at Joiful Yoga, and we deeply appreciate how Sandy Springs fosters connection—from local events to small business support. As members of the Chamber of Commerce, we’ve found an incredibly welcoming and supportive network that has been invaluable in our journey as a business.

Overall, Sandy Springs has a vibrant, growing energy, and we are grateful to be a part of its evolution.
