Dawn Carroll, also known as Dawn C. Raised by loving parents who were aficionados of great music, Dawn was immersed in the sounds of iconic artists like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, and Anita Baker from an early age. Her passion for music ignited when she started singing at the tender age of two, and her mother has a cherished video of her performing in front of the fireplace at that same age. Singing gospel songs with her mother during car rides and family road trips further fueled her love for music.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The journey to success has been amazing. It’s been fulfilling, fun, and rewarding. I did stumble across a couple of obstacles such as trying to figure out how to record myself, and which DAW/equipment I should use to do it. Plenty of people refused to help me and just told me to figure it out. I also had to learn how to register my music with a PRO like ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC. I had to work a couple of 9-5 jobs to make enough to pay for books while I was in school. Also trying to have a quality work-life balance between going to school, having a job, and going to the studio to record. Keep in mind, at the time I had 8am classes and classes that ended in the evening. I was a full time student, employee, and artist. Even after all the stress and struggle, I wouldn’t change a thing about my journey to success.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a professional artist/singer-songwriter. I specialize in lead and background vocals, vocal production and arrangements, unforgettable melodies and lyrics, co-production, harmonies, and everything else that contributes handsomely to the creative process. I am known for my powerful, soulful, and rich voice. I am the most proud of my voice and being a multifaceted and multi-talented artist, business woman, and entrepreneur.
What sets me apart from my peers is my versatility and self-sufficiency in the music industry. I wear multiple hats, serving as my own engineer, vocal coach, vocal producer, singer-songwriter, creative director, videographer, and much more. I record my own music within the comfort of my in-home studio setup, driven by a relentless determination to become the best artist, singer-songwriter, super producer, and business mogul in the world.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
God and my amazing parents are the main reason why I am so successful today. God gave me my multitude of gifts, talents, and anointing. God also blessed me with to loving and supportive parents who want to see me win. My mom and dad always contributed to my career in entertainment ever since I was a child. They encouraged me to do more than just sing by investing in my acting, modeling, dance, and vocal lessons. They poured into me in many ways, like fulfilling multiple roles to help me conduct business. They served as my managers, booking agent, and much more when I got started in the entertainment industry. My parents wiped my tears, invested in and came to my shows, auditions, and regional/national competitions. I would also like to give a special shoutout to my mentors Tyrese Gibson, Major 7, Troy Taylor, Drumma Boy, Travis Malloy, Christopher Starr and many more. These incredible individuals have poured into me in ways that helped me grow as a business woman, and artist and entrepreneur. I want to give a special shoutout to my amazing label heads/staff and my management team! Mike Jackson, Nino Villanova, and Kenny Jackson are 3 of the best managers and business men I’ve ever known. They are constantly working to make sure I have a long-lasting, fun, fulfilling, educational, and productive career.
