Meet Katalina Samuels of Kat’s Kitchen

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katalina Samuels.

Hi Katalina, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I am the oldest of four kids. I grew up on the Southside of Atlanta with two parents both from two different countries. My mother is from Panama and my father is from Jamaica . Both my grandmothers from each side cooked a lot so while most kids like to play outside I was always the one in the kitchen watching and taking notes. That’s where my passion for cooking started. From there I pursued a career in culinary arts after recieving my degree from the Art Institute of Atlanta.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Pursuing my career has not always been easy. I started my private dining business a little bit before Covid which took a toll on my business. I also just welcomed a beautiful baby boy earlier this year so running a business and being a new mom can be challenging but my son gives me a new level of motivation to succeed.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Kat’s Kitchen ?
When I first started off in the industry like most I started working in the restaurant industry. I’ve worked in casual dining to fine dining. All of which had the lack of passion for quality food in common. The restaurant industry is more money driven versus quality which is what provides most people with a great experience . It was then when I decided I wanted to create my own private dining concept where I could provide more intimate experiences for my clients . It also allowed me to be more diverse with being able to provide my own decor as well. Chef X and Chef Jourdan Chataun of Atlanta both helped influence my decision in private dining as well.

What does success mean to you?
I would define success as achievement in result of hard work, growth , and making a change in the lives of others ;whether it be your family, your community or strangers.
