Meet Chandler Allen of Athens, Georgia

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chandler Allen.

Hi Chandler, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am a coastal Georgia native and have always been a lover of all things flowers. After graduating with an Art & Design degree from the University of Georgia, I had the opportunity to pursue an apprenticeship under a wedding florist friend in Colorado, which only grew my passion for the art of floristry and seeing a wedding design vision realized. From afar, I had been a fan of Earl Grey Floral in Austin, TX and it was a dream come true when I found out that Amy was hiring!
Amy Dyer started Earl Grey Floral in Austin about 10 years ago and has built EGF into a luxury wedding and event floral studio. I joined the EGF team in 2021 and have learned from the best! It is truly a dream job! In 2023, I moved home to Georgia with my husband, and we launched the Georgia branch of Earl Grey Floral. We are based in Athens, but we’ve designed all over the southeast for the past two years. I have loved returning to and flowering a place that feels like home and bringing a little bit of Texas with me!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
We’ve been so thankful to expand Earl Grey Floral beyond Texas and experience the excitement of new clients and couples, vendors and venues, and a variety of floral visions! However, it has not always been an easy road, which feels typical for starting a new business in a new place. It takes endurance to make new connections and to adapt to a different environment of the wedding industry. We are very grateful for the encouragement we have received these past two years from all of our Georgia clients, new vendor partners, and supportive friends who have believed in us and cheered on our work!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Earl Grey Floral is a luxury floral studio, providing artful floral designs for weddings and events. Our weddings are typically a mix of elegant, upscale and laid back, with garden-style being our favorite floral design style. We have studios in Austin, Texas and Athens, Georgia, and we happily serve beyond those areas. Primarily inspired by seasons, we aim to display nature’s beauty in our work. Our Georgia studio particularly loves designing with a fresh twist on traditional wedding florals by using seasonal, quality flowers, color palettes, and textures in a creative way. Our hope is to bring peace and ease to event planning, and to encourage clients to go with seasonal, unique designs.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
We love flowering in Athens! So many people come through this city, in all stages of life, and we have loved connecting with other creatives in our industry from Athens to Atlanta.
