Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolinah Prun.
Hi Carolinah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Born in Monterrey, Mexico, started out in school theatre at age 6, and then church and community theatre throughout high school and after graduate from Veterinary Medicine College (UANL), paused acting for a few years until moved to Minneapolis (MN), where I returned to theatre in my first USA theatre production at Stages and Spotlights Production winning an acting award at MACT Fest for best supporting actress (2021).
Acted in many student short films and won a couple of awards in the 48 hr film race in MN, and Online Christian Film Festival for “Best Actress” and “Best Villainess”. (2022).
Continued acting with Crisis Intervention Training Program through Barbara Schneider Foundation (2022-2024), acting as a mental crisis portrayer, which taught me not only how to do improv acting, but also how to manage situations involving people with mental health conditions and/or crisis.
Later on, I continued taking on acting lessons in MN, and signed with Wehmann Talent Agency, from 2022-2024.
On 2023, together with a friend, acted, co-produced and co-directed a web series called “Drivers’ way of the road” (available on Youtube), which led me to create an idea for a show called: Quiet On set. However in early 2024, another TV company had produced and aired “Quiet On Set” (a documentary about child abuse in the television industry), so the title had to changed, so I changed it to: “Quiet On Set -the other one.
So on mid 2023, I founded The Carolinah Prun Arts Association, a film company to create not just short films, but also television shows, because there are a lot of stories out there that need to be shared.
I hired award winning writers to make a script out my ideas for the show, initially we had though only Erin Pecha (Minneapolis), however, when talking to other people and with the help of award winning director Tristan Crawford, we recruited Holi Buhr and Dana Gilberston as well.
We filmed “Quiet On Set-the other one” on early 2024, with the help of amazing Rodney G. Johnson, and Guy Wagner, who helped film the show in a mockumentary format for a PG-13 audience.
We ran a crowd funding campaign for about 4 months asking for $10K, and the first 3 months we had only collected $4k approximately, when a private investor decided to take on our show simply because and quote to their own words “there are not enough latinos running the shows up in here”, so he wrote us a check for $5k, which truly motivated me, so I kept on planning.
In between that time, I had contacted a great friend of mine, Dante Pirtle, also producer, and director for other productions. had come at me also contributing to our production budget, leaving us with a final budget of $11k.
Which we used to pay for the registration of our project and other fees.
Finally, on May 2025, we submitted for The Telly Awards, and won bronze for craft, including edition and writing.
I moved to Atlanta on June 2025, and on August, 2025, I was signed with “East Coast Talent Agency” with Barbara Garvey.
On September of 2024, I was picked to portray a Mexican Mafia boss’ wife “Maria” for the series “The Client” (Atlanta), available on Youtube, and Tubi.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I would like to say it has, but the reality is that the reason why is so satisfying to see many achievements it’s precisely because it has been really tough.
For starters, I’ve come from a family of professionals, all of my siblings but one has either engineer or doctor careers (including myself), so art has never been a thing my family would ever appreciate, or even look as an actual career, so the first stone on the way was definitely the prejudice from my own family. Next I would say, it’s the mindset, being in a foreign country, where people don’t even speak my own language, is a struggle sometimes, and not only language wise, but also, humor, values, culture, and many more differences. But God has been good, and I’ve managed so far.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m primarily an actress, I did not go to any school of art or film as in an actual college (I have a Dr degree in Veterinary Medicine, so that’s quite far from art).
I think I’m known for a lot theatre because I just started doing television for less than 5 years, hopefully in the future i’m known for something in television or films.
I’m mostly proud of my film company The Carolinah Prun Arts Association and our very first production: Quiet On Set – the other one, even if I’m not mainly producing projects, I did it from scratch, and I’m very grateful for all the people who supported me, and even the ones that didn’t, because that just made me stronger.
I think every person is unique, and perhaps if we saw that we wouldn’t judge so hard on each other.
What were you like growing up?
I was a kid in love with all forms of art, I would draw pretty much all the time, actually, when I was a teen, on history class, we were asked to do essays on a specific historic event, and I would do it in a form of a cartoon, so eventually my old history teacher submitted me to participate in a “Poster” competition for the public schools back in the day, to which I had won all the regionals, and got to win 4th place for the state competitions.
Later on I took some interest in music and learned piano, then violin (I still have my violin), and when I was in college, I was the singer of a hard-core band, we even released a couple of songs on iTunes (Now known as Apple Music).
But I have always loved acting!
