Caranita Harrelson of College Park on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Caranita Harrelson. Check out our conversation below.

Good morning Caranita, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I am enjoying binging on popular series and enjoying the unfolding of stories. The practice of studying scenes, as in how they were shot (lighting, shot choices, music supervision, etc). Watching my favorite shows as a student vs a casual viewer has been beneficial and satisfying. The most recent show I’ve been studying is “How to Get Away With Murder”. This series had very interesting selections in regards to character development and where they chose to place their perspective arcs. Couple that fact with the short but very strong supporting characters and the story kept going deeper into a rabbit hole of mystery and intrigue.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Caranita Harrelson but you can simply call me ‘Bird’. As a walking entertainment enterprise, I am the first lady of AMASLife and CEO of Eye Iz Right Pictures, ready to release the new feature film series entitled “Vicious Roses”. What’s unique about the brand, is that it houses a multitude of talent and resources which include film production, music supervision, custom merchandise, website building, logo creation, brand design and event coordination. Thus far I have been in over 20 released productions where most can be found on TubiTV and Prime. Vicious Roses would be the first film series of which I have written, produced and directed myself.

Quick Synopsis: Diana, a sultry and self-possessed web performer, thought she had left the world of escorting behind. But when a mysterious and affluent man named William reaches out online with an irresistible offer for in-person entertainment, her curiosity and ambition are reignited.

With the guidance of her confident and experienced roommate Cecile—who balances cam work with a successful escorting hustle—Diana decides to meet William. What starts as a business arrangement quickly unravels into something far more intimate and emotionally dangerous, as Diana finds herself drawn to William in ways she didn’t expect.

While Diana navigates this new entanglement, Cecile hides her own complications—namely, a bag of stolen money and an ex-boyfriend, Lance, whom discovers he’s been robbed. June—the effortlessly cool and collected muscle man who manages the money and keeps things running smooth—senses that change is coming.

As connections deepen and tensions stir beneath the surface, Vicious Roses blossoms into a gritty, seductive thriller where love, lust, and secrets intertwine—and the thorns are always just beneath the petals.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
I was everything. An adventurer, explorer….animal cop…singer…I had the itch to entertain before common sense and even after that spark is what keeps me going. The little girl I was would be in awe of the woman I eventually became despite the common life obstacles that most children do not see, God willing, due to experience. I could fly without leaving the ground, I traveled many places without leaving the house and I held many a position, all thanks to an imagination that refused to be dictated by the world. I believe I’ve always had a rebellious spirit that enjoyed going against the grain and pushing the envelope.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Of coarse with every path that one desires there will be adversaries and doubts that will surely lead to that familiar fork in the road. This fork in direction is different for everyone, in my case it was more so a decision to keep working for pennies upon projects that didn’t really challenge me as a creator/artist or am I going to take the risk of demanding compensation that I know I’m worthy of along with that goal of becoming a chameleon that I needed and wanted to be. I was getting offered roles that was starting to put me in a box as a character (type-cast). When I began to simply decline these roles it was hard because the roles I wanted with the compensation were not coming at the time and it was beginning to feel like, specifically male directors were only seeking me to tell me how much they loved my work and wanted to work but then turn around become silent once I stated my day rate. I would normally show up to productions for free with the promise of IMDB credits for the project to never see the light of day for various reasons and that would be resources and time wasted. Life is still happening in the meantime and it has its demands whether you have it or not. I figured maybe I wasn’t suppose to be on this path at all, forget the fork, let’s just turn back and do something else. I ended up with the conclusion that in order to be apart of the type of productions that I want to see, I needed to create them on my own. Ultimately, controlling my projects helped steer myself from the box the current climate wanted to place me in.

I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
One of the biggest lies that my industry tells especially via social media that its easy. It’s easy to shoot and produce a movie, it’s easy to get it distributed for streaming and that it happens virtually overnight. Even with behind the scenes visuals, the common thought is that, shooting a film or organizing a small to large conglomerate of talent is quick and simple. For the majority of creators to produce even 5 mins worth of entertainment worth watching, it takes A LOT of time and A LOT of bumps, regardless of budgets, talent, professionalism…the process is grueling. You have to truly enjoy what you do in order to do it and…truth? You’re not always going to enjoy it. You’re going to second guess, you have to adapt to sudden changes because there will be and you have to pick your battles wisely. Sometimes, being creative has to take a back seat to business to make sure everything is in order and understood. The days are long and the nights are sleepless but thats not shown, only the end product.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
At home in arms reach of notepad, pen and access to music. My mind is clear like a fresh canvas. No doubts or negative thoughts have room to populate due to the possibilities taking up the room. I’m able to create and write the scenes, stories in my head and put them together without interruption. My coffee is poured and I am left alone with my imagination.
