An Inspired Chat with Brett Ryder of Atlanta

Brett Ryder shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Hi Brett, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
While I have clear direction in my life, with what I am going to do and how I am going to get there, I’m not always walking a path. Wandering is how you find yourself. If you follow a set path, you are just following the footsteps of someone that came before you. Wandering is finding your own way and doing something original and unique.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Brett Ryder, an indie alt-rock artist from Atlanta. I’ve been playing music since I was a little kid, and now I write and perform original songs that blend raw energy with honest lyrics. I play multiple instruments and love performing live—whether it’s just me or with my band, Lavender House.

This past year has been really incredible – I’ve been featured on Fox News, honored with multiple international award nominations, and have played dozens of gigs, which have all been an amazing experience.

Beyond music, I support causes like Be The Voice and Rock for Rescues—I’m passionate about giving back and using my voice for something bigger. Right now, I’m focused on releasing new music and connecting with more people through live shows and my social media.

My 8th single, Down Down dropped recently and my music catalog is getting hundreds of thousands of streams from over 120 countries around the world! My newest track, ROCKET, comes out September 12th. You can listen to my songs anywhere you stream music.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
The world never told me who I had to be, and if they did, I wouldn’t have listened anyway. All of my life has been following though with making the dream that “little kid me” had into a reality.

When did you last change your mind about something important?
When I started putting out music professionally, I was focused on the pop genre because it was the direction the music industry was headed. About two years later, I pivoted to what I really love the most and what was true to myself – rock and alternative music. Rock is what made me passionate about music to begin with and why I wanted to create a career as a musician.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
On stage, you’ll see me jumping around, talking to the crowd, entertaining all those around me, but when I’m not in “performer mode” I’m much more shy and self-contained. But what doesn’t change, whether I’m on or off stage, is my professionalism, integrity, and attitude.

Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m on stage. It’s funny because its not “peaceful” on stage, but that’s when I am the happiest. It gives me purpose and let’s me feel like I’m a part of something. The calming energy that comes over me when I am performing and entertaining an audience is what makes me feel best.
