Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Doswell.
Hi Nicole, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Today I am a mom, wife and the Executive Director of The Riviere Agency, a fashion/lifestyle PR and production firm known for its “diverse by design” ethos. With over a decade of experience producing runway shows, brand activations, and press events in New York, Paris, and London, I collaborated with some of the most celebrated names in fashion, including working backstage at Chanel, but my start in fashion started in the heart of Atlanta, GA as a modeling agent and working on casting for TV shows, commercials, and print magazines after graduating from the illustrious Clark Atlanta University with a bachelors degree in Marketing.
Today my career is defined by a commitment to creating visually compelling, strategically sound campaigns that generate meaningful media coverage as well as philanthropic work that is advancing diversity and inclusion in the industry. In 2018, I founded Models of Color Matter (MOCM), an advocacy initiative dedicated to increasing representation in fashion and media. I am also a leading voice in the textured hair space, partnering with the Natural Hairstyle and Braid Coalition to champion textured hair education and policy reform, ensuring greater equity and professionalism in beauty services. This mission means so much more to me today as mom to a beautiful baby girl who I want to grow up loving every drop of melanin in her skin and curl on her head.
A trusted resource for brands seeking to merge cultural relevance with high-impact PR, I am known for my ability to bridge creative vision with operational excellence. My work has been featured in top-tier outlets and on prestigious stages.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
No it has not always been a smooth road. I left Atlanta for a job in Miami at a new face director at a global modeling agency back in 2012. I moved to Miami with where I had no friends or familial connections and was able to build a life there, about a year in I was let go and started freelancing with event production companies and doing creative job, it was not easy to shift gears, but I did and it landed me in front of the woman who is now my boss and business partner. I am so glad that I didn’t give up on myself, I didn’t stay down for long and what looked like a dead end ended up being one of the most amazing pivots I could have ever dreamed of…I went from way behind the scenes to creating the scenes and traveling around to world to do it.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality that has been most important to my success is trust—trust in the process, trust in timing, and ultimately, trust in God’s plan. I believe that what is meant for you will find you, and what isn’t will pass you by. My own journey is proof of that. I always dreamed of working Fashion Week, but never imagined I’d one day work in Paris—an opportunity far beyond my own vision. I’ve learned that you can set big goals, but God can dream even bigger for you than you can for yourself.
