Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Shemera Sinkfield of Atlanta – Mobile

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Shemera Sinkfield. Check out our conversation below.

Hi Shemera, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: Would YOU hire you? Why or why not?
Would I hire me? You know what, I actually would. Just sitting here thinking of myself and how I interact in the work space and with clients/customers on a day-to-day basis, I can say YES!. Not only do I work hard, but I also make sure that I treat people how I want to be treated, and that is with gentleness, grace, love, passion and care.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Shemera Sinkfield; Creator of Mera Mera Network and Co-Creator of Mera Mera Images. A TRUE ATLien (and I do not plan on changing that or going anywhere.) I am an all-around creative that loves everything that surrounds what creativity is. I consider myself a “Renaissance Woman,” so boxing me in to one category is something that is almost impossible, being that I wear many hats. I am Photographer/Videographer with letters behind it (upcoming DP as well as Director in the Making) in the camera world. I also dabble in the fashion world as a Costume Designer, Costumer and stylist for various projects. I would be remiss not to include the titles of Producer, Content Creator and Travel Agent on my list.

Growing up, I was never really one to stick to just one thing, and I think that’s what makes me so unique. I am able to adapt pretty fast in various environments and still pull off tasks that are at hand. Which is an amazing ability to have, especially currently seeing and experiencing the frequent shifts in the creative world. Now that all of that has been said, I am sure that you all are more interested in what I am currently working on. I am so excited and anxiously waiting on the release of the first project that I was the Director of Photography (DP) on titled The Silver Fox! I am also patiently waiting on the short film that I was a Producer and Costume Designer for, titled DISTRESSED. They should be released soon, although I do not have an exact date yet. I am currently working on building more content for my own business Mera Mera Network, while also being a brand ambassador for Maximum Infusion (A Cannabis Coffee Brand – ( www.MaximumInfusion.com )

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Ooh!…This is a good one. Who was Shemera before the world told her who she had to become? I would have to say that I was a free spirit in a sense. Everything was fun, or I found a way to make it fun. And when I say I made it fun, I simply mean that I did not over think it. The questions of who’s going to see it? what are they going to think about it? what are they going to say about it? will it change their mindset of me?…NONE OF THAT MATTERED. I just did what made me happy and as long as I felt good about it, that is all that mattered.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
SUFFERING…I wouldn’t even give it that title. I would simply call it Endurance Builders. When you are going through life’s challenges, it shifts your mentality to either make or break you. I am praying that you are allowing it to make you. Trials or “suffering” teaches you how to maneuver the course for your current season, and how to endure and manage going without. That way, if you are ever to face that season again, you have already read through the blue print and have taken notes on what steps to take.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Is the public version of me the real me? IT SURE IS!..I can only imagine how draining it has to be to pretend to be someone else. I am an identical twin and I don’t event think I can pretend to be her (trust me, we’ve tried it on my 5 year old niece and it doesn’t work at all, not even hearing our voice in separate rooms can trick her.)
I think once you have actually taken time to get to know yourself, the good, the bad, the ugly and the hidden version of YOU, then you are able to create the foundation to embrace and love you for you. At this point, there wouldn’t be a need to put a mask on to pretend to be anyone else.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Could I give everything my best, even if no one ever praised me for it? Yes, I could and I do. My daily purpose is not looking for someone to give me a pat on the back or any kind of accolades. It is actually the opposite. Every day, when I am working with someone, whether it be on a 9-5 or my career, I aim to always provide a good experience to others. I want people to leave my presence with a sense of peace and feeling good about themselves. If I’ve accomplished this then my daily purpose has been fulfilled.
