We recently had the chance to connect with Ryan Dills and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Ryan, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of my day typically starts with the sunrise, as I use the light coming through the windows as an alarm clock. After taking a few moments to reflect on some affirmations(mindfulness, accountability, intention, empathy), I get out of bed, making it immediately then turning on the shower to do a quick 30 second cold shower, After assessing the notifications on my phone to ensure no urgencies, I do a 5-10 minute stretch/warm-up type routine before deciding on cold or hot coffee. I hydrate while adding supplements I feel are relevant for the day and assess breakfast options, with the usual being 2 eggs over-medium, a protein, sliced tomatoes, salsa, and toast, or just overnight oats. After cleaning up, I knock out the notifications as needed and read a few pages of a current book before assessing the rest of the day to determine the best time to get in a fitness session, mindful of any professional and personal obligations I’ve already got in motion.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ryan Dills and am a co-founder/owner of The Georgia Hemp Company, with sister brands including Sympleaf Sport/Wellness, High-There Co, and The Georgia Mushroom Company. We mostly procure and distribute high-quality hemp wellness products. All products utilize 3rd party labs as we prioritize customer safety and quality, ensuring that our labels match the product within.
We have stores located around Atlanta in the communities of Decatur, Duluth, Kennesaw, Sandy Springs, and Woodstock. We have websites covering all of our products for quick delivery, plus we’re becoming more and more active on Door Dash throughout the Atlanta area.
We thrive on the grass roots approach, supporting many local events helping us to educate and raise awareness on the many facets and misunderstandings of our industry.
As we continue navigating the ebbs and flows of our industry, we remain dedicated in offering effective health alternatives to help folks live a higher-quality of life.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
My dad. He grew up in the 40s & 50s and like many from those generations- he believed in honesty, accountability and discipline. I remember such critical words as ‘never have an advantage at another’s disadvantage’ and to never ‘cheat, steal, or lie’. He highly valued keeping your word and to communicate when changes arise. I have always subscribed to these frames of thought the best I could, and any perceived successes in my life I’d credit such mindsets for sure.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Be present, thus worry less about the ‘what-ifs’, and just be mindful of the ego and how little you know.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief or project you’re committed to, no matter how long it takes?
The decriminalization of cannabis and its derivatives, the promotion of more research of such substances, and the continued support towards educating to erase the stigmas associated
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
The desire to connect, learn and expand.
