We recently had the chance to connect with Takeisha Hardaway and have shared our conversation below.
Takeisha, it’s always a pleasure to learn from you and your journey. Let’s start with a bit of a warmup: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I’m walking a path, this path will be the path of success in which I’m focusing on preparation, hard work, and learning from trials. Also, I’m defining my own unique goals and embracing my continuous learning and staying persistent in all of my efforts. Then everyday as I move forward in my path, I’m cultivating my self-belief and surrounding myself with supportive people like my family.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Takeisha Hardaway I’m a music producer for Funktasy Records also I’m an author and wrote several books. These books that I wrote are music and coloring books. Also, I’m a teacher and has received my bachelors of arts from Southern New Hampshire University in Exploring Liberal Arts and masters of science from Touro University Worldwide in Forensic Psychology. Now working towards a Doctorate degree in Forensic Psychology. Then during my spare time, I write music and make video games and graphic designs.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
My parents are the ones that shaped on how I see the world today. They taught me a lot about all of the challenges that I may face or run across. Also, they taught me how to be careful about trusting people and watching out for the games that people play that try to get away with things.
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain when people tried to lower my self-esteem and I used it as my power by looking towards a positive direction and telling myself that I can do it. Then also, my parents talked to me with positive motivations in which gave me high self-esteem. After that, I started finding things that I enjoyed doing music by playing the piano and arts in drawing, then at this point, I finally found something that I was good at.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What’s a cultural value you protect at all costs?
The cultural value that I protect at all cost is universal human values because I believe in shared principles that transcend individuals cultures such as respect for life, truthfulness, and freedom.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
As I can see it, I’m doing what I’m born to do because it’s my talent and I’m good at what I do and love doing it.
