Community Highlights: Meet Dr Chasity Carswell of Collaborating Minds LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr Chasity Carswell.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started my journey in healthcare with a deep desire to help others and make a meaningful impact in people’s lives. I first became a Family Nurse Practitioner, which allowed me to provide comprehensive primary care and support patients with a wide range of medical needs. Over time, I found myself drawn more and more toward mental health; recognizing how deeply it influences every aspect of a person’s overall well-being. That passion led me to further my education and earn a dual degree as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner along with a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Through this progression, I built a career that bridges both physical and mental health, allowing me to treat the whole person rather than just isolated symptoms. Eventually, I founded Collaborating Minds LLC, a practice that integrates psychiatric care, minor medical treatment, and weight management services through a compassionate, client-centered approach. Each step of my journey from family medicine to advanced psychiatric practice has been about helping people heal, find balance, and live better lives.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Starting a private practice means wearing every hat — provider, administrator, marketer, and business owner. I faced challenges with funding, credentialing, and learning the business side of healthcare while still giving clients the best care possible. But each obstacle pushed me to grow and made Collaborating Minds stronger.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Collaborating Minds LLC?
Collaborating Minds, LLC is a mental health and wellness practice based in Lawrenceville, Georgia, offering both telemedicine and in-office care. We specialize in medication management for anxiety, depression, ADHD, PTSD, and mood disorders, while also providing care for minor medical concerns and weight management. What sets us apart is our collaborative approach — clients aren’t just treated, they’re heard and involved in their care every step of the way.

I’m most proud that our brand represents compassion, accessibility, and professionalism. We’ve created a space where clients feel safe, respected, and supported, whether they’re new to treatment or continuing care. My goal has always been to make quality, personalized care accessible and approachable, and that’s exactly what Collaborating Minds is about.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
Starting my own practice was definitely the biggest risk I’ve taken. Leaving the security of a steady job to build something from the ground up required faith, sacrifice, and a lot of learning along the way. I believe risk is necessary for growth, especially when it’s tied to purpose. Every major step in my career came from trusting that the reward would outweigh the fear.
