Today we’d like to introduce you to D Souyle.
Hi D, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I begin my visual arts journey when I picked up my first camera back in 2007. As I was getting in knee deep, I began to photograph women’s feet. I dabble with foot modeling photography until late 2011 I was invited out to take some behind the scenes music video for a Columbus GA artist by the name of Feenix. One thing led to another, I began to invest my energy into photography before transiting into a visual artist.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There’s been obstacles along the journey. People cancelling at the last minute, some no call no shows, not being on page with a client or two. Yet at the same time I am grateful for those obstacles. They allowed me to get more intuned into myself so I can recognize when a me and a client do not align.
It’s been a lot of stopping and going with consistently posting on social media. I recognize with social media and in public your presence is important b/c if you do not leave an impact, you will be out of sight out of mind to the community.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in creating visual images of portraits, photo documentary, lifestyle, sports, boudoir, and BDSM. I am grateful for anyone who I connect with who allows me the opportunity to create art of them, I don’t consider myself a photographer b/c in today’s world with the technology and cameras on our phones, anyone can be a photographer. I consider myself a visual artist who strives to connect with a person first before I create art with them,
How do you think about happiness?
The ability to wake up to see a new day, opportunity to create art, connect with the community, to do better than I did yesterday.
