We’re looking forward to introducing you to Cameia . Check out our conversation below.
Cameia , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: When was the last time you felt true joy?
Joy is such a wonderful experience for me because it doesn’t always have to come from something I do. I appreciate seeing it in others, too. One of the times I felt true joy was not too long ago when I saw an IG clip of a young man singing in a nursing home. The older patients were smiling and dancing (to the best of their ability), and it instantly made me overwhelmingly happy. I could see the joy it brought everyone, and I imagined them in their younger days, on a dance floor somewhere, just going in! It was the highlight of my day.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Cameia Williams, and I’m the Creative Lead at Go Off & Create — a creative studio committed to helping businesses feel confident by solving their design needs. We also love telling the stories of creators, entrepreneurs, and visionaries making an impact on our Go Off & Create podcast.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
That the sound of my voice sucked, lol. Nobody ever told me this — it was just my own insecurity. It didn’t stop me from talking, though :). But once I got into adulthood, I got over myself. I embrace my voice.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
No, and I don’t mean that arrogantly. I just understand that life be lifing, so I fully expect ebbs and flows. If anything ever starts or ends, I go with the flow of it because I’m a woman of faith and believe He guides my steps. Things will be hard sometimes, and other times they’ll be easy — but it’s never made me feel like I need to give up.
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes! The only person I know how to be is myself. It would actually annoy me to pretend to be someone else. I think it’s important for me to be authentic because it deepens my connection with people and allows me to experience them in a genuine way.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. If you laid down your name, role, and possessions—what would remain?
A woman who is flawed but loving, caring about many things.
A woman who helps where she can, who listens well and loves a good conversation.
A woman who is creative, silly, and delightfully random.
A woman who enjoys long walks that let her mind wander.
A woman who cherishes her friends, her family—and her fur family too.
A woman who sometimes stops to gaze at the night sky.
A woman who values fairness and balance.
