Hi Kristopher, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is a normal day like for you right now?
I would say if I’m not on the road touring or styling a shoot a normal day for me is being active especially outside in nature or doing my workout routines outside .
I Love jogging it’s therapeutic for me it clears my mind I love the sun I love putting my headphones on and listening to new music old music all types of genres of music it’s like my alone time , I’m like forest gump lol I just like running lmao.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
What’s up everyone I’m Kris Shelby.
I’m an Image Consultant,Entrepreneur and Creative Director from New Orleans .
I’ve been Creatively styling and doing image consulting for over 16 years . I’ve worked with some of today’s biggest entertainers like Jay “ Jeezy “ Jenkins , The Migos , YFN Lucci , Fetty Wop , Plies , Trouble ,
Yung Joc,AdeKunlegold,MayorKun ,YK Osiris , Comedian Druski and that’s just to name a few . For the past 6 years I’ve been touring the world with Grammy Award Winner, HipHop Icon, and New York Times best selling Author Jay Jeezy Jenkins
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
So growing up in New Orleans in the early 2000’s I was in rap group with one of my bestfriends to this day Blaze and they called me Young Kris and everyone knew us by Da Block Burnaz we where signed under one of the south’s biggest labels Big Boy Records and had a Number 1 single on the radio called “ Work That Thing “ feat Magnolia Chop .
That’s who I was before I became Kris Shelby the Stylist but I got Da Block Burnaz tatted on me so that’s something that will forever be in me until the day I die . Major Shoutout to Partners – N – Crime Mista Meana and Kango Slim because without them believing in us back then and grooming us da block burnaz would have never happened so major s/o and love to PNC
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Of course there was many of times I wanted to throw it all away and just give up because it wasn’t happening fast enough but what I’ve learned is patience is the key , there’s was this verse Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. — Romans 12:12, NIV
That I love and it was something I lived and still live by to this day . I feel we’ve all been in that place of wanted to just give up for whatever reasoning but I knew for me I couldn’t because I had people depending on me and I knew I couldn’t be selfish I had to not just do it for myself but I had to do it for my love ones ,my family , my friends and all my supporters who’ve been riding with me since day one .I Love Yall “ Big Love “
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Awwwww man that’s simple lol my closest friends to me would say what really matters to me the most is my Family and Friends and my creative freedom to do whatever I want to do whenever I want to do . Big S/O to my friends Milli, Reek,Tiff ,Erika,Mya, Josh, Blaze, Dman, SNO , Ms Na’eema , My Sister and My Mom and My Niece Jer Jer I Love Each and Everyone of you and I’m so thankful for the role that you play in my life
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Are you doing what you were born to do—or what you were told to do?
My life is in the hands of god he’s my father and I follow him wherever he wants me to go so if this is what I’m doing it’s because god put me here ,this is my destiny
