Hi Kevian “KB”, thank you so much for joining us today. We’re thrilled to learn more about your journey, values and what you are currently working on. Let’s start with an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
The gym and bootcamp are bringing me great joy these days. I try to stay on top of my health and fitness so every fitness goal I achieve I am super proud!!
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a professional background singer for artists in the industry such as Syleena Johnson and Jacquees just to name a few. I have been singing all my life but professionally since 2004. I also write and arrange vocals.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother saw me clearly and knew that I would be in music. When I was 3 years old I was always playing the toy pianos in department stores. So she bought me piano and microphone and it was up from there. LoL
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes. In 1998 I was in a group. It was 3 teenage boys and we were called “One Luv” and we got a record deal with Capitol Records. After signing we were about to move to L.A. to start working on our album but things went left and the deal fell through. It made me bitter and I never wanted to do music again.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
Being in the industry we sort of create a version of ourselves for the public to see. The industry/public version of me wears sunglasses all the time and is always well put together from head to toe. The at home version of me is introverted, chill, quirky, a little weird, and in pajamas. LoL
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
I would stop procrastinating. I would also stop eating sugar and sweets. LoL
