Kim Nicole Thomas shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Kim Nicole , thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Are you walking a path—or wandering?
I am walking a path. This is what I mean when I say this. God has me on a path in the educational realm and in the entertainment realm here on earth. I am a theater arts teacher as well as a working actress. The path that I walk is the path that Yahweh God has placed me on since before the very foundations of the earth. I am not wandering at all. I know exactly what I am called to do on this path. I am called to help young people and adults to get on the path that God has chosen for them in the arts. Many people are wandering around on the earth and do not know their purpose. Many people who God has called to this industry are wandering around in it not knowing what their special path is.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
l Introduction (Revised):
My name is Kim Nicole Reed Thomas. I am the founder and director of Acting 4 Christ Theater Productions, Yeshua Films, KNTheratrical SFX Studios, HYTTA (Healing Youth Through Theater Arts), and now, Kim’s Drama Academy. I am also the author of Why the Actor Must Pray – The Warrior Performer.
As a playwright, director, poet, acting coach, actress, and certified Study of Being Practitioner, I bring a unique approach to the performing arts. I teach actors how to prepare for their characters through prayer, guiding them not only in embodying a role but also in safely stepping out of it when the performance ends. I also share my expertise in special effects makeup with students of all ages.
What sets my work apart from traditional theater training is my emphasis on prayer and spiritual character development. While many focus only on the basic techniques of acting, I go beyond that—equipping actors with spiritual tools to protect their minds and maintain balance as they bring complex characters to life. This faith-based, holistic approach is what makes my brand of theater truly distinctive.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
Yahweh God saw me long before I ever saw myself. He knew me before time began, before the foundations of the earth were laid. Before my mother and father ever came together, He had already called me by name. Even before my father’s seed met my mother’s egg, I was living in His heart and resting in His mind. I am here today because He saw me clearly, even when I could not see myself. He continually molded me and shaped me into the woman that I am today. I am a creator because he is The Creator.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Yes, this happened during my sophomore year of college. I was involved in several productions as a theater major and felt proud of my work—my peers did too. At the end-of-year awards banquet, every time an award was announced, my friends would cheer, saying, “Kim Thomas! Kim Thomas!” They wanted me to win Best Actress or Best Supporting Actress—but I didn’t.
I went into the bathroom, leaving my then-husband at the table, and I cried. I even considered changing my major because it felt so unfair. But that night, Yahweh spoke to me. He reminded me, “Kim, I called you to this.” His message came through the encouragement of my peers—they wouldn’t let me give up.
That experience taught me an important lesson: it’s not about the awards, but about touching people’s lives with the gifts and talents God has given you. From that moment on, I approached my craft with renewed purpose—and in the following years, the recognition began to come back to back
Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
The person I admire for his character rather than his power is Mr. Denzel Washington. He is a man of God and boldly stands firm in his faith in God and in Jesus Christ (Yeshua). Though he has tremendous power as an actor, he does not use it to intimidate others or let it make him arrogant. His character shines both on set and on stage, and I sense the same integrity in him when he is away from the public eye. Watching his interviews, I feel as if I know him personally—like he is an uncle to me (smiles). He may not know it, but I see him that way. His character is evident in everything he does, and that is what I truly admire.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What will you regret not doing?
I would regret not trying.
