Today we’d like to introduce you to Montice Harmon.
Hi Montice , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Montice Harmon (also known as “BoSsWRiTeR”) I am a multifaceted American creative professional known as a bestselling author, poet, musical spoken word artist, songwriter, publisher, seasonal actor, and motivational speaker. I have sold over one million books worldwide and have been featured in several films and TV shows.
Southern-born and raised in Moultrie, Georgia, I started modeling for commercial ads when I was just six years old. I developed a passion for writing at the age of twelve, which intensified after moving to Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, in 1996.
My talent for poetry soon transitioned into music, and by 2000, I was a published songwriter and poet. I experimented with blending elements of R&B, soul, and jazz into my poetic compositions.
Publishing and Business Ventures: I attended Florida A&M University for a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communication. I established my own publishing company, BossWriterPublishing, LLC, under which I self-published over 25 books, including The Adventures of Angus the Mouse series and Expressions of Poetry collections.
Acting and Film: I have featured as a seasonal actor in several films and TV shows, such as Bessie, Survivor’s Remorse, and Being Mary Jane. I briefly co-founded a production company, King Blanco Productions, in 2014, but left in early 2015. Motivational Speaking: Alongside my creative work, I am an activist and a motivational speaker, focusing on youth empowerment, encouraging education and goal setting.
Now today, I continue to be an active and prolific creator. I continue to release new titles, with several scheduled for release in 2026 and beyond. I am a recording artist who has released multiple albums and singles, with my 2022 album Stardust streaming over 1,000,000 times.
I am a motivational speaker and storyteller, working with youth to help them make “bright decisions and wise choices”.
I have also directed several music videos and a podcast series titled The Montice Harmon Show. I am currently writing and working on music for my label ‘BoSsWRiTeR Ent’ artist.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Of course the career I chose wasn’t a clear one. I went through a series of both success and struggles. My biggest struggle in the beginning was being a new independent publisher/author and finding my place with traditional publishers and authors.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
To me, success isn’t about fame, numbers, or how much the world applauds you — it’s about impact. It’s about waking up every day and doing what you love with purpose, passion, and faith. Success is knowing that my words, whether through a book or a song, have touched someone’s heart or helped them see their own strength a little clearer.
I measure success by growth — by how far I’ve come from where I started, and by how many people I can inspire along the way. True success is freedom: the freedom to be yourself, to create without limits, and to live in alignment with your truth. That’s what drives me every single day.
