We recently had the chance to connect with Jason Fletcher and have shared our conversation below.
Jason , a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
Great question, I’m a true-believer of how you do one thing is how you do most things. Having a morning routine is essential for a multitude of reasons, Discipline being the most beneficial.
The first 90 minutes of my day consists of some form of meditation or affirmation as I lay in bed. I do this to consciously calibrate my mind, energy and spirit into alignment with the new-day. I then get out of the bed and grab my thermos filled with water, lemon and a little apple cider vinegar I call it: “The Elixir.” I drink approximately 8-10 ounces of that to get my metabolism fired up and to further wake my mind up. I then proceed to the bathroom to brush my teeth but, not in a ‘traditional’ manner. I solely use my ‘off-hand’ the entire time when brushing, looking directly into my eyes sub-vocally saying the same or similar affirmations as I did when I awoke. Now, before you judge me, there is a reason for this. Using your off hand benefits your brain by creating new neural pathways and improving cognitive function, creativity, and problem-solving skills. It also improves physical coordination and balance, strengthens both hands. After brushing my teeth, I do a full body stretch which starts with 50 push-ups to get my heart pumping; my blood flowing. Once that is completed, I make up my bed and head down stairs where I do a ‘dead-hang’ for 1-3 minutes to decompress the lower spinal vertebra that become compress durning sleep. Next I prep my supplements, coffee, food for my dog and I take him out to relieve himself. While outside, I bask in the sunshine to receive some essential vitamin D3, to reset my circadian-rhythm, increased serotonin and to lower my blood pressure. Now I’m ready to start working, so I make my coffee and head into my home office. I reflect at times on how consistent I have been with this routine over the years and jokingly think that I do more in the first hour that I’m awake than the average person does the entire day. Living Optimally is what I embody and teach my clientele.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My father seen me before I could see myself. This was because he knew himself, he knew his regrets and how his decisions adversely shaped his experiences in life. He used to tell me often how I had so many gifts, abilities, skills and talents that came so naturally to me and I would be foolish to not use them to the fullest and that I would regret it when I became his age; because he regretted it. He clearly seen within me a version of himself that he would never get to experience as his time had come and passed. His only reason for this level of transparency and vulnerability was as he put it: “Son, all I want is for you to be better than me.” My father is no longer alive physically, but he will live on forever through me and through the utilization of what God has innately gifted me.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
This question resonates with me immensely because in a lot of ways the child that you were is the person that you are today. Also, I’m in the process of writing a book, a Short Book + Book of quotes titled: My Hearts Thoughts.
I grew up in ‘lower-class’ conditions and environments, my household was dysfunctional to say the least. There was a lot of arguing and division between my parents. I’m an only child so navigating the energy and emotions that I felt was all on me. I didn’t have anyone to talk to about what was going on or how it is making me feel, especially durning those times when the motto was ‘stay in a Childs place.’ So, I would retreat to my small room and stew in my emotions, most of which were anger, loneliness and sadness. One day, I had the idea to write down what I couldn’t and wouldn’t dare say aloud, but was deeply within ‘My Heart.’ What I quickly realized is that once I was done writing I felt better, like I released something or a weight was no longer on my mind; it became therapeutic to me and overtime a byproduct of it is that it made me a much better communicator.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What’s a belief you used to hold tightly but now think was naive or wrong?
(Laughing) Oh this is a good question, I’m sure that the readers will debate about this. What I would call “cliche” more than ‘naive’ or ‘wrong’ is the “nothing” or “nobody is Perfect” belief. What I have learned durning my time thus far on this planet is that most people never critically think beyond the confines of their proverbial box. Universal connotations have been accepted as truth without question and anyone who doesn’t conform is deemed foolish and potentially condemned. Let’s look at the denotation of the word “perfect/perfection” which is the state or quality of being free or free as possible of flaws. The process of gestation requires a form of perfection for every one of us to even exist. Next, look no further than nature, how everything goes together; everything has a purpose. All of the elements that it takes to create the universe resides within each of us, this planet naturally produces everything we need to survive; the vitamins and minerals within the fruits and vegetables are all in alignment with our bodies needs-it gets no more ‘perfect’ than that. I now know that the only time we aren’t in a state of perfection is when we are out of alignment with self. “Self-Awareness is the key which makes you the lock”~Jason Fletcher.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
Well, I don’t ‘hope’ anyone tries to tell my story. I’m the author and God is the editor. What I know it is this. You all are bearing witness to a man on a mission, a man on his purpose, that has mastered many things thus far in his experience of life; yet none more important than the mastery of himself. Through betrayal, hate, pain, depression, anger, insecurity I harbor no malice, disdain or resentment. I have never brought shame to my family name, I have never hated on or tried to bring anyone down. I have only taken life trails and tribulations, learned from them and applied what I have learned to myself. My purpose isn’t about trying to ‘change the world’ per-say, but I am sharing with the world the universal-ways of how I changed myself. My legacy is being etched within the ubiquitousness of life. Thank you for this opportunity!
