Today we’d like to introduce you to Nicole Estelle Roman.
Nicole Estelle, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
When I was a little girl, I did not know what I wanted to be when I grew up. Other kids would say things like a doctor, firefighter, or a teacher. I simply said that God was going to use me, but I had no clue what that meant. All I knew was I wanted to help people. I cried on my mother’s shoulder more times than I could count, asking her why God made me and what my purpose was.
That longing to know shaped everything I did. It led me to study communications and work in TV and advertising because I wanted to change the images the world saw, especially when it came to people of color. I spent years moving through different disciplines of the entertainment world, learning the ropes in advertising, marketing, sales, events, production, and consulting. I’ve worn many hats; each one a new assignment God led me to.
At thirty, God got my attention in a way that shook me to my core. He let me know I was on the verge of missing Him and everything He wanted to do in my life. That realization lit a fire under my feet. I came to realize that my purpose isn’t a career. What we do can help fulfill our purpose, but our true calling is to love God, reflect Christ, and serve others.
That understanding transformed me—I became a God chaser, a cheerleader for Him and for His people. The scripture I try to mirror is : “What you do for the least of these; you do for Him.” That’s how I show up in the world: loving God and loving His people.
A president of a theological seminary once told me I was like the mycelium beneath the forest floor; quietly connecting people, ideas, and helping everything around me flourish. It was the first time someone articulated my true talent in a way that tied it to my purpose. That clarity has brought greater understanding to the doors God opens before me…it’s so I could be a door.
But the part of my story that changed everything dramatically was my daughter Sophia. Walking through her cancer battle and her passing shattered my heart in a way words can’t fully describe. The grief was suffocating. It was a long road to healing because my husband and I did not have the support we needed during the darkest time of our lives. That experience profoundly shapes the work I do now.
In 2024, How My Faith Brought Me Through was published, which is my family’s shared journey of my daughter’s diagnosis, battle, and my heartbreak-to-healing process. Before the end of the year, I will be releasing the companion workbook, How Your Faith Will Bring You Through Loss, to help others walk from heartbreak to healing. Wanting to give the help I did not receive is why I also stepped into grief coaching. Helping others heal and live the life God intended for them with purpose is why I advocate. It’s why I serve.
Today I serve as an Elder at Life Changers FWCC in Tucker, Georgia. I’m also the Atlanta Membership Committee Director and soon-to-be Connect Leader for Christian Women in Media. Everything I do flows out of faith, service, and the call to help others live a purposeful life.
My story is simple. God took a little girl who only knew she wanted to help people, and He guided her through purpose, pain, and calling. And today, everything I do is because He brought me through, and I’m here to help others find that same hope in their journey.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Since I embarked on this journey, I thought struggle was my middle name. Along the way, I had to learn to watch what I spoke, because our own words can keep us in the fire longer than God intended. I would need to write an entire book just to list every challenge I faced and every fire and deep water I had to walk through: financial hardship, homelessness, multiple deaths at the same time, sickness, near-death experiences, and more.
People do not always understand the cost of the oil on someone’s life. They see when God blesses you, but they do not see the pressing you endure in private. Let me just say, I thank God I do not look like what I have survived. That’s it: I survived. I made it through what would have taken others out—not because I’m stronger or better, but because I never let go of God and I never gave up halfway.
So many people don’t make it to the other side, or they live beneath what God desires for them, because the process is too hard and they give up before things change.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What I’m most proud of is that everything I do flows from a place of service. Whether it’s coaching, ministry, speaking, writing, advocacy, or building programs to support people, each role is a door God has opened, and I show up to bring out the best in others through the love of God and by living with purpose and faithfulness.
As a minister of the Gospel, transformational coach, and consultant, my work sits at the crossroads of faith, advocacy, and transformation. I don’t show up to impress people; I show up to impact them. I help people heal, grow, and find their footing again. I guide them through grief, life transitions, purpose work, and the moments that shake them to their core.
I connect people, ideas, and resources, helping to reveal what others may not always see. I walk alongside them, guiding the journey from heartbreak to healing, from confusion to clarity, and from merely surviving to standing strong in who God created them to be.
I bridge faith and real life in a way that is relatable, and I have a God-given gift for creating connections that change lives.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I love this question because I’m so passionate about the answer. What matters most to me is my relationship with God. My faith is the lens through which I see the world, make decisions, and live each day. My family is central to everything I do; they are my daily motivation and my heartbeat. I’m also deeply committed to helping others step fully into their God-given purpose.
Above all, how I show up in this world matters. I want to live out my purpose fully, and when my time is up, I want to leave this world empty—empty because I gave everything I was meant to give to make it better.
