An Inspired Chat with Sushi King of Southside

Sushi King shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Sushi , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for me right now is waking up getting my kids ready for school, dropping them off and then getting straight to work. Nice work and family balance.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Yuri Ridore aka The Sushi King and I am the owner and operator of Sushi King Clothing Company and Designs. I currently work on T-shirts, jackets and hats and also customize clothing and logo design. I began working as an earring creator when I initially started the company and grew it to a wide range of textile products and materials. My brand specializes on creating things raw and rare for my clients to express themselves creatively.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Just like everyone else. Going to school, going to work trying to figure everything out. Trying to figure out what my purpose was and what I was good at and how I could profit off it wow truly being happy doing it.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I’ve had plenty of times where I thought about giving up. There were even points of my life where I packed up all of my art paint and computer and just didn’t think that it was for me until one day. I walked past the box in the garage and I haven’t looked back since then.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
Skipping the necessary steps to actually implement hard work and dedication. I’m an advocate in working smarter, not harder, but there are times where you have to put in the work and not expect to sheet the process.

Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
The individuality I brought to the table for everyone of my designs
