We recently had the chance to connect with Donielle Story and have shared our conversation below.
Good morning Donielle, it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
I recently had the opportunity to be the makeup artist on The Portia Show for the models in the segment, where they also featured pieces from my online jewelry boutique – Precise Boutique. We had so many fun moments, and I’m really proud of myself for taking on that collaboration and showing up with confidence.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Donielle Story, and I’m a master cosmetologist, specializing in both hair and makeup. I’m also an entrepreneur and the owner of an online boutique – Precise Boutique: that offers custom hair accessories, unique jewelry, and handmade custom locs.
What makes my boutique truly stand out is its versatility—you’re not just shopping; you can also book your hair appointments directly through the site.
My niche is all about creativity and thinking beyond the ordinary. For example, I offer signature items like loc hoop earrings and handcrafted loc accessories you won’t find anywhere else.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My answer will be my mother.
She saw my potential long before I fully understood it myself. She recognized my creativity, my eye for beauty, and my natural talent for transforming others—skills that would later shape my career as a cosmetologist and entrepreneur.
She also saw my strength and resilience, even in moments when I doubted myself. She encouraged me to trust my gifts, to step into my confidence, and to dream bigger than my circumstances.
Most importantly, my mother saw the woman I was becoming and continuously poured love, guidance, and belief into me until I could see it too.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
“Grow.”
Every challenge is shaping you into someone powerful and creative.
Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
They will say that I put my loved ones first and that I stay grounded in what I believe in—loyalty, integrity, and staying true to who I am.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
They’d miss the way I make them feel seen, cared for, and confident. It’s not just the hair or makeup—it’s the conversations, the trust, the laughs, and the comfort of knowing they’re in good hands.
My clients would miss the personal touch, the creativity I bring to every style, and the genuine connection we’ve built over the years.
They don’t just come for a service—they come for the energy, the encouragement, and the feeling of walking away transformed.
