We recently had the chance to connect with Todd Mack and have shared our conversation below.
Todd, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What do the first 90 minutes of your day look like?
The first 90 minutes of each day starts outside with coffee, even if for just a few minutes. This helps center and set what I hope will be the tone for the rest of the day. The remainder of those 90 minutes is spent checking my schedule for the day, going through emails, and getting started on the day’s first task.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a singer-songwriter, producer, and artivist (artist + activist). I also serve as the executive director of Music in Common, a nonprofit organization that curates experiences for people across social divides to find common ground through music and facilitated conversation. I have just released my eighth album and wrapped up my 33rd year of touring.
Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. Who saw you clearly before you could see yourself?
My mother! Perhaps it was just a mother’s love, but mine always told me I was special and that I would do big things.
When you were sad or scared as a child, what helped?
Music! Music has always been my religion, therapy, strength, and greatest love.

My life is guided by five simple but powerful words: music can change the world. This is the foundation of everything I do professionally as an artist and as the director of Music in Common.
