Rising Stars: Meet ZANANDI Aka Desmyn Spady of Atlanta and Washington D.C.

Today we’d like to introduce you to ZANANDI Aka Desmyn Spady.

Hi ZANANDI, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I am Zanandi. I am a big ole ball of energy and much more!
I help people grow in business, music, and life—it’s who I am. Raised the eldest of eight and homeschooled, leadership and self-reliance were instilled early. I started young, trading poems and songwriting for small wins, which sparked my lifelong passion for music and creativity. While working at Arden’s Garden in little five points, I purchased my first investment property and discovered a passion for real estate renovation and flipping. Along the way, I built meaningful relationships that shaped me into a multifaceted business professional.
From launching the TeeCountry brand in 2011, to working as an honorary band leader with the legendary carnival mas band, Atlanta’s own We Kinda Ting, to working in music and executive production, to co-founding a nonprofit and helping create a national holiday – National Mambo Sauce Day in Washington, D.C., I’ve consistently turned vision into action.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth? Absolutely not. Where’s the fun in that? 😊

Life has been my classroom, through living, listening, traveling, and staying a student of experience. I spoke on this as a co-host for local radio in D.C., how traveling is my education, my institution. I learned while leading and managing in telecommunications as well. My experiences have shaped who I am. Every failure in business and relationships sharpened my perspective. Travel became my education, teaching me to see multiple angles and live in the present.

Failure isn’t the end, it’s the reset. It’s the chance to begin again, smarter. That’s how I live and that’s how I coach others.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m best known as a business connector and consultant, helping people and companies turn ideas into real ROI through sales strategy, talent development in corporate structures, music, events, and real estate. I’m a real estate investor and sales consultant based in Atlanta, GA.

In Washington, D.C., I’m the COO and co-founder of GoGo Global, a 501(c)(3) dedicated to preserving and sharing D.C. Go-Go music worldwide. In 2025, I also co-founded National Mambo Sauce Day, celebrated annually on October 16. I occasionally lend background vocals to Tone P and Tha Carry Out projects.

But most of all, I am known for impacting lives through just being a good person and resource. My life is dedicated to helping people succeed. I am thankful to God for that gift.

What sets me apart is my high-energy, positive spirit. Above all, I’m most proud to be a mom, a wife, and someone gifted to inspire others, “changing lives one interaction at a time.”

What do you like and dislike about the city?
ATL people, love. Atlanta hospitality is unmatched. I love the food, the culture, and how much opportunity this city creates for entrepreneurs. The music and its global influence are undeniable, and there’s always something new to explore. It’s also a great place to raise a family. My favorite place is Inman Park.

That said, the lack of affordable housing is tough to watch. Growing families and the working middle class need more options. And traffic on 75/85? Definitely not my favorite.
