Hi Meka, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Meka Carey is an emerging stand-up comedian celebrated for her honest and relatable humor, which is deeply rooted in her personal life experiences. She embarked on her comedy journey in 2012, making her debut at a charity event focused on breast cancer awareness. After taking a break, she made a triumphant return to the stage in 2022, motivated by her entrepreneurial achievements.
Since that comeback, Meka has performed internationally, sharing her experiences as a mother of two and grandmother of one, and forging connections with audiences through her genuine storytelling. Her commitment to refining her craft shines through as she utilizes social media platforms like TikTok to experiment with new material and interact with her fans.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Getting noticed and booked can be a struggle for a new comedian. You truly have to pay your dues especially if you do not have a large following.

I am a standup comedian who also creates content. I am known for my sarcasm and truth telling. I am proud of me for not giving up. This is not an an easy journey. As a middle aged woman I have encountered so many people saying what I can not do but yet I am doing it anyway. My honesty and transparency. I share my ups and downs with my online supporters. This path is not easy but its doable.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
You have to be willing to lose in order to win. You can not outwit hard work or dodge risks. Life itself isn’t guaranteed so why would I sit and wait or only do things that are safe? When I first started I travelled internationally for a comedy contest and some people thought I had lost my mind but I came in second and I regret nothing. I am investing in myself and going on tour this year. My tour is called Can’t Take Me Nowhere and I do not care if there are 6 people or thousands of them I will be giving my all on each stage I touch. Catch me outside all 2026.
