Meet Ryan Perry of Perry Electrical

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Perry.

Hi Ryan , please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started my career in the electrical field back in 1995 as a helper, learning the trade from the ground up. Over the years, I worked my way through residential, commercial, industrial, automation, and telecommunications projects, gaining hands-on experience in just about every environment you can imagine. After more than a decade working in other shops, I knew I wanted to build something of my own—one that focused not just on quality electrical work, but on how customers are treated throughout the entire process.

Perry Electrical Contractors began as a one-man operation, and today it’s grown into a skilled, professional team serving the greater Atlanta area. From the beginning, my goal was to create a company people could truly rely on—one that shows up when we say we will, communicates clearly, and stands behind our work. We’ve invested heavily in licensing, certifications, safety training, and continuing education so our team stays current with modern codes, technologies, and best practices. Just as important, we’ve built our reputation around customer experience, whether that means clear pricing, clean job sites, or taking the time to walk clients through the finished work. That combination of experience, professionalism, and personal accountability is what’s allowed us to grow steadily and earn the trust of homeowners, businesses, and industrial clients across the region.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like most small businesses, the road hasn’t been completely smooth. Starting as a one-man shop meant wearing every hat—technician, estimator, scheduler, and business owner—often all in the same day. Learning how to grow while maintaining quality was one of the biggest challenges early on. As demand increased, it became critical to hire the right people, train them properly, and make sure every job reflected the standards I built my name on.

Another ongoing challenge has been keeping up with constant changes in codes, technology, and customer expectations. The electrical industry doesn’t stand still, so we’ve had to stay committed to continuing education, safety training, and investing in better tools and systems. That requires time and resources, but it’s not something we’re willing to cut corners on.

What’s helped us push through those challenges is a long-term mindset—focusing on doing things the right way instead of the fast way. We’ve grown steadily by prioritizing reliability, clear communication, and accountability, and that approach has allowed us to build strong relationships with clients who value professionalism and trust.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Perry Electrical Contractors is a full-service electrical company serving the greater Atlanta area, with a strong focus on residential, commercial, and industrial work. We handle everything from service calls, lighting, generators, and structured cabling to more complex commercial and industrial electrical systems, including facilities, warehouses, and specialty projects. What truly defines our business, however, isn’t just the range of services we offer—it’s how we deliver them.

We’re known for reliability, professionalism, and clear communication. From the first call to the final walkthrough, our goal is to make the process easy and stress-free for our clients, whether they’re homeowners, business owners, or facility managers. We provide clear pricing, show up when we say we will, maintain clean and organized job sites, and take the time to explain the work we’ve done. Every member of our team is trained, background-checked, and committed to upholding the standards we’ve built our reputation on.

Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust we’ve earned. Much of our growth has come through referrals and long-term client relationships, particularly with commercial and industrial partners who rely on consistency and accountability. We invest heavily in ongoing training and modern technology so our team stays current with evolving codes and systems, while still delivering the kind of hands-on service and responsiveness that sets us apart. I want readers to know that when they work with Perry Electrical, they’re choosing a local company that values safety, craftsmanship, and long-term partnerships—not shortcuts.

Are there any apps, books, podcasts, blogs or other resources you think our readers should check out?
I’m always focused on learning, but I tend to keep it practical and relevant to both the business and the field. A lot of what’s shaped my career has come from hands-on experience, mentorship, and staying current with industry standards rather than any one specific book or resource. I make it a priority to stay up to date on electrical codes, safety practices, and new technologies so we can continue delivering reliable, modern solutions to our clients.

From a business standpoint, I pay close attention to tools and resources that improve organization, communication, and efficiency—things like scheduling, project management, and training platforms that help our team stay aligned. I also value learning from other business owners and trades professionals, whether that’s through conversations, industry publications, or podcasts that focus on leadership and entrepreneurship.

At the end of the day, continuous improvement is important to me. Whether it’s refining our processes, investing in training, or learning from experience, staying curious and adaptable helps me lead better and ensures our clients continue to receive a high level of service.
