Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Riapos.
Hi Jennifer, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I stumbled into social work by accident. I intended to be a nurse, but a scheduling twist landed me in human services. That’s where I found my true calling: helping others heal emotionally. I switched majors, took on leadership roles, and worked across community and inpatient settings—especially with trauma, substance abuse, and LGBTQ+ communities. Eventually, I built my own practice—growing it from solo to group—and I’ve spent the last several years expanding it with a focus on community care.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Absolutely not! It’s been everything from insurance headaches to keeping payments on track, especially during tough economic times. But the biggest challenge has been keeping a team engaged long-term. It’s not just hiring; it’s creating a space where we grow together. It’s been a learning curve—but it’s made us stronger.
We’ve been impressed with Bright Transformations Therapy Services, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At the heart of my practice is helping people navigate trauma, substance abuse, and LGBTQ+ issues and their mental health. I’m known for combining evidence-based therapy with a warm, solution-focused approach. What sets us apart is that we meet clients where they are (physically and emotionally), whether that be in-person or via telehealth. I’m proud of building a space where people feel safe and heard. Ultimately, I want readers to know we don’t just offer therapy—we offer a partnership in healing and growth. Also, we’re expanding that vision, we are now offering intensives, coaching, retreats, and leadership trainings, even partnering with organizations to foster emotional wellness. Our aim is to grow with our clients, no matter where they are.
What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is helping people! Especially when they’re dysregulated or life feels tough, so they can show up fully in their relationships, their work, and as their best selves. I want them to learn how to regulate their emotions, so they can be that person across all areas of life. My why is because I’ve been there! I know what it’s like to feel dysregulated or disconnected. This is what fuels me. I want to help others find balance—not just when things are calm, but when life goes up and down, so they can feel grounded, connected, and whole.
