Today we’d like to introduce you to Rebekah Murphy.
Hi Rebekah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Like many mothers early in their motherhood journey, I found myself at home with a new baby, uncertain of who I was outside of being “mom” and how to care for myself while caring for someone else full time. I had grown up very active and was a college athlete, so movement and fitness had always been a big part of my identity—but suddenly, fitting that into life with a newborn felt overwhelming.
I didn’t feel comfortable leaving my baby in a traditional gym childcare setting, but I knew there had to be another option. A Google search for “mommy and me workouts” led me to FIT4MOM. Even then, it took a few months to build up the confidence to try my first class. But once I did, everything clicked. I had found a place where I could prioritize my own wellness while keeping my baby close—and just as importantly, I found a community of women who truly understood the season of life I was in.
What started as a way to survive early motherhood eventually became something I was deeply passionate about. Over time, I transitioned from client to instructor and ultimately took on the role of owning and growing FIT4MOM North Atlanta. Today, I get to create the very space I once needed—supporting hundreds of moms throughout metro Atlanta through movement, connection, and community.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road—and I don’t think meaningful work ever is. Building a business while raising a family comes with constant tension between time, energy, and expectations.
Motherhood isn’t easy—for stay-at-home moms or working moms—and owning a business while raising three young children adds another layer of challenge. The pace of entrepreneurship is fast, the responsibilities are constant, and the need to show up for both your family and your community never really turns off. My biggest ongoing struggle has been balancing the growth of the business with my own personal capacity, as well as the capacity of my team. Trying to grow something meaningful while honoring those limits is a daily practice.
There have been—and will continue to be—seasons of burnout. But I’m fortunate to have built an incredible team of instructors and managers, all moms themselves, who make this work possible. It takes the dedication of over twenty women—each in the thick of raising their own families—for our community to thrive. Their passion for supporting moms is what allows us to deliver meaningful, high-quality programs every day. None of our success would be possible without them.
That said, when you truly love the work—as we do—the challenges and sacrifices are worth it. The purpose and fulfillment the team and I find through this work is incredibly special. Personally, I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to lead and serve moms in Atlanta.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about FIT4MOM North Atlanta?
FIT4MOM is so much more than a workout—it’s a community built specifically for motherhood. We offer prenatal fitness, mommy-and-me classes where babies stay safely nearby, and mom-only programs focused on strength, running, and total-body wellness. Every class is designed to support moms physically and emotionally and to evolve with them through each stage of motherhood—whether that’s surviving the newborn phase, navigating toddlerhood, or reclaiming their identity as their kids grow.
What sets us apart is that we don’t stop at fitness. We intentionally create connections beyond class through playgroups, weekly music classes, arts and crafts, field trips for little ones, and mom-only experiences like Mom’s Night Out, book club, and special events. These moments build real friendships and the support systems moms need.
What truly matters to me—and why this work is so personal—is the mom who is home with a new baby, craving connection but also reassurance that she’s doing the right thing for her body. Early motherhood can feel isolating, and many moms are left guessing about what movement is safe, effective, or appropriate for their stage of recovery.
That’s where FIT4MOM, the nation’s leading prenatal and postnatal fitness program, makes such a difference. FIT4MOM was built specifically for motherhood, with evidence-based programming and instructor training that focuses on pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the long-term fitness and wellness needs of moms. Our instructors are certified to coach women through these transitions, so moms can feel confident they’re supported by professionals who truly understand their bodies.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the community we’ve built. Moms come for the workout, but they stay for the friendships, the accountability, and the feeling of belonging. I want readers to know that FIT4MOM is a place where you’re never judged, never rushed, and never expected to be anything other than exactly where you are.
What are your plans for the future?
We are excited to continue expanding our reach across the North Atlanta region and create more opportunities for moms to connect—both inside and outside of class. That includes growing our specialized programs like Body Well and Run Club+, deepening community partnerships, and offering more events that support moms holistically.
Long-term, my goal is to continue developing leaders within our team and ensuring FIT4MOM remains a sustainable, welcoming space for years to come. Our North Star is to support as many moms as possible to find their own strength in motherhood, so they feel confident, supported, strong, and empowered.
