Conversations with Carolina Perez Jimenez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Carolina Perez Jimenez.

Hi Carolina, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am originally from Colombia, and I moved to Atlanta in 2017 with the goal of building a better future and growing professionally. In 2019, I began my journey in the roofing industry when a local roofing company gave me the opportunity to learn from the ground up. That experience allowed me to understand not only the technical side of roofing, but also the importance of integrity, customer service, and community impact.

With a background in Architecture from Colombia, I quickly connected with the construction and remodeling industry. I have always been passionate about how homes are built, repaired, and improved, and roofing became a natural path for me to apply my knowledge and skills.

Later in 2019, after gaining hands-on experience and industry knowledge, I decided to take a leap of faith and open my own roofing company. The journey has not been easy—these years have been filled with challenges, learning experiences, and personal growth—but it has been incredibly rewarding.

Today, I feel proud and grateful to serve my community, helping families protect their homes and providing them with quality roof replacements. Being able to add value, build trust, and ensure that each family has a safe and reliable roof over their heads is what motivates me every day. This has truly been an incredible journey, and I am excited about what the future holds.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has definitely not been smooth. Starting over in a new country came with many challenges, both personally and professionally. As an immigrant, one of the biggest obstacles was learning how the roofing and insurance industries work in the United States while adapting to a new language, regulations, and business culture.
Building credibility and trust in a competitive, male dominated industry was also a challenge, especially as a Latina business owner. There were moments of uncertainty, financial pressure, and long hours where I had to balance learning, working, and growing a business at the same time.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a roofing professional and business owner specializing in residential roof replacements, insurance claim assistance, and exterior home improvements. My work focuses on guiding homeowners through the roofing process from start to finish—beginning with inspections, documentation, and communication with insurance companies, and ending with high-quality installations that protect their homes.

With a background in Architecture, I bring a technical and detail-oriented approach to every project. I pay close attention to structure, materials, and proper installation methods, ensuring that each roof is not only functional but built correctly and responsibly. I am also deeply involved in remodeling and exterior upgrades, which allows me to see each home as a whole rather than just a single project.

What I am most proud of is the trust I’ve built within my community. Many of my clients come through referrals, which reflects the level of care, transparency, and dedication I bring to my work. I am known for being hands-on, honest, and highly involved in every project, making sure homeowners feel informed and supported throughout the entire process.

What sets me apart is my ability to combine technical knowledge, strong communication, and genuine care for people. As a bilingual business owner, I am able to serve diverse communities and bridge communication gaps that often exist in this industry. I don’t see roofing as just a job—I see it as a responsibility to protect families and add real value to the communities I serve.

How do you think about luck?
I believe luck has played a role in my journey, but not in isolation. I have been fortunate to encounter opportunities—such as meeting people who believed in me and being given the chance to learn the roofing industry—but I also understand that those opportunities only mattered because I was prepared to work hard and take responsibility.

There were moments that could be seen as “good luck,” like being given the opportunity to grow within a roofing company when I first entered the industry. At the same time, I’ve faced situations that felt like bad luck—unexpected setbacks, financial pressure, and challenges that tested my resilience. Those moments forced me to adapt, learn quickly, and become stronger.

I view luck as the intersection of preparation, persistence, and timing. What truly shaped my path was consistency, discipline, and the willingness to take risks even when the outcome was uncertain. When opportunities appeared, I was ready to act.

In the end, luck may open a door, but it is effort, integrity, and perseverance that determine how far you go once that door is open.
