Hidden Gems: Meet LauraBeth Tanner of Elsa of Woodstock

Today we’d like to introduce you to LauraBeth Tanner.

Hi LauraBeth, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
A little about me: I spent many years as a musical theater actress in Atlanta, earning a degree in musical theater before completing a master’s degree in education. I went on to teach music and theater for over ten years. I then went through a very difficult divorce and created this business to bring in finances and be able to be there for my children when they needed me. This business has allowed me to be the best single mom I can be while creating a flexible, meaningful career I truly love.

I am deeply passionate about children, community, and providing high-quality experiences. I also strive to keep rates attainable so families from all backgrounds can create magical memories together.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are many struggles! I had to start the business with basically nothing. I bought an Elsa dress (inspired by my daughter opening an Elsa doll and thinking it was a mommy doll). Every penny invested was a struggle, but worth it! Finding potential clients was also a challenge, but people eventually hired me with all my persistence; handing out pamphlets in costume, going to PreKs, day cares, etc and advertising.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I believe that my heart for children makes me stand out from the competitors. I purposely have my packages priced much lower than anyone else, as I wanted to be able to reach a larger demographic, and not just wealthy families. Every child deserves a little magic. I also hold professionalism and excellence very highly. I use beautiful and high end costumes. I love what I do, and bringing so much joy to children is what it is all about for me.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
That I am strong, resilient and creative. After a marriage that put me down all the time, I found myself again and proved to myself that I am fully capable of anything I set my mind to.
