Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Pendergrass.
Hi Taylor, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Serenity Coffee Camper started from a mix of creativity, faith, and a love for bringing people together. I’ve always enjoyed the atmosphere that coffee creates — it naturally brings people into conversation and community. I also loved the idea of doing something a little different than a traditional coffee shop. The idea for Serenity Coffee Camper came from wanting to create a mobile coffee experience that could go directly to people at weddings, events, festivals, and community gatherings. Instead of customers coming to a café, we bring the café to them.
The name “Serenity” was inspired by the Serenity Prayer, which has always been meaningful to me. I wanted the business to reflect a sense of peace, joy, and connection — something that goes beyond just serving coffee.
What started as an idea has grown into something really special. We now get to be part of people’s celebrations and important moments, from weddings to local events. It’s been really rewarding to see how a simple cup of coffee can create connection and community, and I’m excited to continue growing Serenity Coffee Camper and serving people in new places.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Starting Serenity Coffee Camper definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but the challenges have been a big part of the journey. One of the biggest hurdles was the renovation process. The camper itself took about a year to complete because we kept uncovering things that needed to be fixed, including areas of rot that had to be rebuilt. A lot of the process involved learning as we went — watching tutorials, researching, and working on the camper whenever we could around our other jobs and responsibilities. Once you become a business owner, you also quickly realize you end up taking on roles you never expected. Some days you’re not just the owner — you’re also the plumber, electrician, mechanic, and repair technician. Running a mobile coffee camper means there’s always something to troubleshoot, whether it’s maintaining equipment, fixing water lines, or making sure everything is running smoothly before an event.
There have also been the challenges that come with operating out of a camper itself. Coffee machines occasionally need repairs, and colder weather can affect pipes and plumbing, which adds another layer of problem-solving. But those experiences have taught me a lot and helped me become more resourceful.
Looking back, even though the process had its ups and downs, those challenges helped shape Serenity Coffee Camper into what it is today. They’ve made me appreciate the journey even more and have been a big part of building something I’m truly proud of.
As you know, we’re big fans of Serenity Coffee Camper. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Serenity Coffee Camper is a mobile coffee catering business that focuses on creating a unique and welcoming coffee experience at events. We serve specialty espresso drinks, handcrafted lattes, iced coffees, seasonal flavors, and a variety of non-coffee options so there’s something for everyone. Our setup allows us to bring a full coffee bar to weddings, festivals, campus events, and other gatherings where people can enjoy quality drinks in a fun and memorable way. One thing that makes Serenity Coffee Camper special is the ability to tailor the experience to each event. We enjoy working with hosts to create custom drink menus, whether that’s signature drinks for weddings, seasonal flavors for festivals, or a menu designed to fit the theme of a celebration.
What I’m most proud of when it comes to the brand is the meaning behind the name. “Serenity” was inspired by the Serenity Prayer, which reflects trusting God, finding peace in His plan, and having the wisdom to navigate life’s challenges. My Christian faith has played a big role in shaping both the name and the heart behind the business. I wanted the brand to represent more than just coffee — but also hospitality, peace, and serving people well.
At the end of the day, my hope is that Serenity Coffee Camper creates a space where people feel welcomed, encouraged, and able to slow down and enjoy the moment. Coffee has a special way of bringing people together, and it’s a privilege to be part of people’s celebrations and meaningful moments.
What’s next?
Right now, the biggest goal for Serenity Coffee Camper is continuing to grow and get our name out in the community. Since we officially launched in July of 2024, we’re still in the early stages, so a big focus is building relationships and making connections with local businesses, churches, event venues, and organizations. The more people who experience the camper at events, the more opportunities we have to keep our calendar full and continue growing. Looking ahead, one long-term dream would be to eventually have a brick-and-mortar coffee shop. The mobile camper has been an amazing way to start the business, meet people, and be part of so many different events, but having a permanent space someday where people could gather regularly would be really special.
For now, though, the focus is on continuing to serve events well, building strong relationships in the community, and seeing where God leads the business next. We’re excited to keep growing, meeting new people, and bringing Serenity Coffee Camper to more events in the future.
