Meet Jasmine Chester of Jonesboro (Traveling Loctician)

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Chester.

Jasmine Chester

Hi Jasmine, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My love for beauty started early, at the tender age of six years old. I grew up in the hair salon, sitting at the front desk while my mom got her hair done, soaking up the environment and energy that would later shape my career. By first grade, I was teaching myself how to braid, and not long after, I was practicing on family members and friends at school.

My talent began to pay off by eighth grade. I started booking clients and earning money from my talent. Turning passion into purpose, I continued to build my foundation throughout high school. I studied cosmetology from freshman to senior year; where I completed 1300 hours of Cosmetology training, worked as a salon assistant on the weekends, and then graduated with a high school diploma and a cosmetology certification.

In August 2011, I moved to Tallahassee to attend Florida A&M University, where I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in August 2017. As a full time student, I balanced both worlds, working part-time in a popular local salon as an assistant and working part time retail at the mall. After graduating from FAMU, I began woking part-time in a barbershop as a first-time booth renter and navigating a full-time accounting position in Corporate America; but creativity always called louder.

After stepping away from Corporate America, I fully committed to my purpose building a beauty career rooted in intention, self-expression, and skill. Today, I specialize in dread locs, hair extensions, natural styling, and more. I consistently deliver elevated, detail-driven looks that transforms hair, and elevates the clients natural beauty from within. My purpose is to intentionally create an experience that feels just as good as it looks.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The journey to this point has not always been smooth. Balancing school, part-time salon work, and a full-time corporate job meant long days, little sleep, and constant hustle. Breaking into the beauty industry as a young stylist came with its own challenges as well; like learning credibility, building a client base, and proving my skillset while still in high school. Florida A&M University helped shape my understanding for business, perseverance, and dedication. Instilling the importance of showing up not just for myself, but for every client that I come in contact with.

Leaving Corporate America was the gateway to fully pursue my passion. Becoming a full-time entrepreneur immediately with no cushion called for understanding money, seasons, and the power of networking in real time. With that, all of life’s experiences up to this point has been essential to reinforce the strength and discipline needed to thrive in any environment.

Through it all, I lean on Matthew 17:20 (ESV): “He said to them, ‘Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.’” That belief fuels me every day, while transforming obstacles into opportunities and reminding myself that with faith and action, nothing is impossible.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a Hairstylist with a passion for creating looks that empower people to feel confident, elevated, and look and feel their best selves. I specialize in dread locs, hair extensions, and natural styles, but I love fantasy hair and customizing every experience to fit each client’s hair goals, lifestyle and personality. Over the years, I’ve become known for my efficient attention to detail, precision, and the kind of hands-on care that makes clients feel truly heard, pampered, and seen. I pride myself on maximizing the shampoo experience, respecting clients time, and using quality products.

I am most proud of turning a childhood passion into a thriving career building trust, creating looks that boost confidence, and fully showing up for my clients every day. My passion for hair has allowed me opportunities beyond the chair such as destination weddings, home going services, and styling behind the scenes on photoshoots.

My authenticity sets me apart, a seamless blend of artistry and experience. I bring commitment, education, and patience; intentionally making every client feel elevated, seen, and taken care of. And above all, faith keeps me grounded, reminding me that with focus, perseverance, and with mustard seed sized faith, nothing is impossible.
