Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Horton.
Hi Amber, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’ve always felt most whole and connected through movement. I spent 15 years studying ballet, and after college I discovered yoga—a kindred language of movement that finally quieted my mind. Yoga opened my heart to the most familiar version of myself and, quite simply, taught me how to breathe.
Over time, yoga became an anchor for my mental and emotional health. It has been essential in managing my mood and anxiety, alongside breathwork, meditation, therapy, nourishing food, and intentional sleep. Prioritizing my well-being holistically led me to see movement not as a workout but as a way of living.
My deep appreciation for these practices—and my desire to share them—naturally evolved into teaching. I completed my yoga teacher certification in June 2023, and from the moment I started leading classes, I knew I had found my calling. As I taught, I became increasingly drawn to the therapeutic side of yoga and expanded my training to include:
* Yoga corrective exercise specialist
* Yoga for mental health awareness
* Certified Health Coach with a focus on meal planning and gut health
* Certified functional fitness instructor
I also stepped into a leadership role as a Lead Trainer at a boutique fitness studio. In every space I teach, I approach this work mindfully and with a thoughtful heart. I encourage my students to practice kindness and grace toward themselves, to meet their bodies exactly where they are, and to honor their unique pace.
I soon realized that to truly serve my community, I needed to create a space that was accessible, both virtually and in person. That realization gave birth to Am Yoga Inc.
Am Yoga Inc. is built on the belief that your time, your space, and your pace matter. It’s not just about the asana—it’s about embracing movement and mindfulness as a lifestyle. My mission is to offer a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment where people can explore yoga, joint-friendly movements, meditation, and breathwork in ways that feel sustainable and empowering.
I prioritize safety and proper form in every class while creating a calm, grounded, and encouraging atmosphere. I specialize in a wide range of offerings, including:
* Corrective exercise assessments and sessions
* Trauma-informed yoga
* Mindful yoga for anxiety and depression
* Chair and Senior yoga

As the owner and lead instructor of Am Yoga Inc., I am committed to serving as a guide for individuals of all ages, levels, and backgrounds. My work is about helping people experience the power of daily movement—one breath, one practice, one compassionate choice at a time.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road, and I’m grateful for that now.
For years, I followed a traditional corporate path, working as an account manager in tech. I excelled in my role, but over time, the demands of that environment began to erode my priorities. My work–life balance was in disarray, and I felt increasingly disconnected from myself. Ironically, that emotional strain was what finally pushed me to pause, reflect, and invite yoga back into my life in a more intentional way.
The pandemic became a turning point. I parted ways with the corporate world and, with the guidance of a phenomenal clinical psychologist and yoga therapist at Asili Wellness—and the unwavering support of my husband—I allowed myself to envision something different. That’s when I began my journey as a yoga teacher.
Stepping onto this new path has been both exhilarating and terrifying. I was deeply afraid of the uncertainty: starting over, redefining my identity, and building something from the ground up. But I’ve learned to see that fear differently. Now, when a transition, goal, or dream scares me, I take it as a sign that it truly matters to me. Instead of resisting that discomfort, I’ve started to lean into it—and that’s where the most meaningful growth has happened.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
My story has taught me many lessons, but the most consistent theme has been learning to trust myself—really tuning into my inner voice instead of being guided by the expectations and opinions of others.
To do that, I first had to get honest about who I am. I’m a creative. I’m a health and wellness advocate. I’m a lover of movement. I’m an encourager and a listener. I genuinely care about people and how they feel in their bodies and in their lives.
Once I understood who I am and what energizes me, my purpose became much clearer. From there, I could create a plan, set meaningful goals, invest in my education and training, and start building a business that feels aligned with my values and soul.
The key message: Your inner voice is your guide. Knowing and honoring yourself creates authentic wellness and fulfillment.
