Meet Cameron Sweatt of Atlanta

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cameron Sweatt.

Cameron , we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Honestly, it started as just a thought during a conversation between my best friend, Dooney, and me. Fashion has always been something I love. I’ve always enjoyed styling myself and helping others put together looks that make them feel confident. While we were talking, the idea just came to me—I thought, why not create my own clothing brand? That moment sparked the beginning of what would eventually become my unisex clothing line.

I’ve always loved styling both women and men. To me, fashion is about expression, and it shouldn’t be limited by gender. I wanted to create something that anyone could wear and feel good in. That vision naturally led me to the idea of a unisex clothing brand—something stylish, inclusive, and versatile for everyone.

Coming up with the name actually took a lot of time. I went through so many ideas and none of them felt quite right. Eventually, I started playing around with my own name and thinking about how it would sound with “boutique.” That’s when Layton’s Boutique came to me. Layton is my government middle name, and I felt like it sounded unique and memorable. It’s different, and I knew it would stand out from other brands.

I want people to feel confident, stylish, and comfortable being themselves. Fashion should empower you. With Layton’s Boutique, my goal is to create pieces that allow anyone—no matter who they are—to express their personal style.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It wasn’t a smooth transition at all lol. I honestly didn’t do my research when it came to the cost of fabric, and how much it would cost for someone to bring my vision to life.

I didn’t know how to sew but I had so many ideas, and on how I wanted my collection to look. So thanks to my seamstresses they made both of my collections and I couldn’t be more grateful.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
A lot of people who know me know that I was a part of a major web series called Chasing Atlanta, which is where I debuted my first collection from Layton’s Boutique.

I was on Chasing Atlanta from Season 1 through Season 5, and I will forever be grateful to my executive producer, An’Darrio Abrams.

He literally gave us a platform to promote our brands, whether they were new, already established, or if we were still trying to figure things out. I will always be grateful to him and the other producers who were a part of the franchise.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
You most definitely have to be a people person and must know your crowd. I think the best way to have a successful business is to network and rub shoulders with others who are in the same industry.

I don’t think you can have a successful business without leaping out on faith and believing that God will see it through, even when you can’t see it.
