Today we’d like to introduce you to PLAYA WÂǓN.
Hi PLAYA, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m from the east side—Snapfinger, Decatur to be exact. I’ve been rapping my whole life, starting with family and friends, and I recorded my first song at just four years old.
Over time, I started to take my identity more seriously. I go by PLAYA WÂǓN now. “WÂǓN” comes from my real name, Kejuan, and it stands for WeAllUpNext / WeAllUpN:OW—it’s about this next generation stepping up and leading the culture.
The accents over the A and U represent the ups and downs we go through on the way to success, and they also nod to “Au,” the chemical symbol for gold—because that journey creates value.
“PLAYA” is something deeper too—it stands for People Lust After You Always. It’s about understanding that people are always watching, wanting something from you, and moving with awareness and confidence because of that.
Even my logo reflects that message—a blank face with locs. It represents how I’m often seen at a glance, without people knowing the full story. What started as something personal turned into a symbol of who I am.
I’m still building, still growing—but this is just the beginning for me.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It hasn’t been smooth at all—but that’s part of the fun. Nothing was handed to me, and I’ve had to earn everything along the way.
One of the biggest challenges I’ve faced has been networking and finding genuine people. In this business, not everyone’s intentions are clear, so I’ve had to learn how to move smarter, trust my instincts, and value real connections when they come.
I’ve realized relationships matter just as much as talent—being around the right people can open doors and create opportunities you can’t reach alone.
Creatively, I’ve also dealt with writer’s block and moments where the motivation just isn’t there. That’s been a challenge because the spark doesn’t always come on command—it just hits when it hits. But I’ve learned to stay patient and trust my process when it does.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I go by PLAYA WÂǓN. I’m an artist and songwriter who focuses on creating music that’s both expressive and relatable, blending real-life experiences with a laid-back, melodic sound.
What sets me apart is how personal my music is. This isn’t just something I do for a paycheck—it’s how I process life. Every song is like a page out of my diary, reflecting my thoughts, emotions, and the ups and downs I go through. It’s both my freedom and my escape, but also a way to connect with people who relate to that same energy.
I take pride in being able to turn everyday feelings and situations into something people can vibe to. As I continue to grow, my goal is to build a sound and identity that people instantly recognize as authentic and true to me.
What’s next?
I’ve got a lot in motion right now. One of the biggest things I’m working toward is launching my clothing line, which I’m excited to bring to life and connect with my music and overall brand.
I’m also looking forward to expanding creatively, especially into voice acting. I’m naturally introverted but very expressive, and I’ve always had a range when it comes to tone, delivery, and even mimicking different voices. That’s something you can hear in my music already, especially in the ad-libs—I like keeping people guessing.
As far as growth, my main focus is continuing to evolve—both as a man and as an artist. Just getting better, more intentional, and building something that lasts.
