Today we’d like to introduce you to Ery Thomas.

Hi Ery, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I had the opportunity to watch my mom do photography and even having the chance to model for her. Around the age of 9, I decided to enter a contest that included visual arts, music, choreography, and photography. The theme had circled around beauty and my mom had taught me some photography tips and I ended up taking a beautiful picture of a flower which I sent off and ended up winning first place at my school! As time went by up until now, I’ve always taken pictures of my friends through my phone and even my sister and it’s always been something that’s brought me joy and I realized that I could really make something out of it, which brings me into my business.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Starting photography is difficult, especially business wise. I still have a small follower count and it’s hard especially to promote it as much as possible. I’ve had moments where my photos would gain attention, and then seen as lame. All I have to do when I struggle is not give up because that’s what I tend to do but then I remind myself how much I enjoy doing this stuff.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I specialize in solo or group pictures, performances, birthday shoos, and just about anything. I have been known for as someone who is a positive and motivational person during photoshoots through the perspective of others, and a creative person. I am proud of how much I’ve grown when it comes to my work and the attention that’s given to it. My thought process when I take pictures or edit them is that if I wouldn’t like it posted, then the client wouldn’t. By thinking this, it is not in anyway insulting clients but capturing the beauty through photos and making others happy which is what sets me apart from others.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I view myself as a risk taker and has ended up in some rough patches not specifically in photoshoots, but in general. I always have the YOLO mindset, and often just remind myself to have fun but yet again stay safe.
