Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Barber.
Hi Erica, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey in the tax industry started with building a solid foundation. I spent my first three years working under an established tax company, learning the ins and outs of tax preparation, client service, and compliance. After gaining that experience, I made the decision to step out on my own—and I’ve now been successfully running my own business for five years, with a total of eight years as a Tax Preparer.
Starting my own company, Barber’s Tax & Credit Repair, was a major turning point for me. It not only gave me the opportunity to serve clients on my own terms, but it also opened the door for me to expand as an entrepreneur. Since then, I’ve launched two additional businesses: Rhasi’s Slay & Lay Medical Spa and Garden Of Es Natural Remedies, allowing me to diversify my services and impact.
Securing my location at 3060 Napier Ave, Macon, GA has truly been a game changer. It provided a stable foundation for growth, visibility, and the ability to better serve my community.
One thing I always emphasize is that taxes are not just seasonal—they’re year-round. While many people focus on January through April, I work with clients throughout the entire year, helping them stay compliant, plan ahead, and maintain their financial health.
My journey has been about growth, consistency, and creating opportunities—not just for myself, but for the clients and community I serve.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a completely smooth road—but it’s been a purposeful and rewarding journey.
Like any business, there have been challenges along the way. One of the biggest things I’ve noticed is how many taxpayers have been misled or put in difficult situations by other tax preparers. In some cases, it’s surprising because you would expect seasoned preparers to guide clients correctly based on their experience. Instead, some clients are led down the wrong path, or they end up working with preparers who lack the knowledge to properly handle their returns. Unfortunately, that leaves clients dealing with the consequences on their own—whether that’s audits, penalties, or having to fix prior-year mistakes.
That’s actually one of the main reasons I take so much pride in what I do. It brings me real joy to be able to step in and properly guide my clients the right way. I’ve put in the time to truly understand the tax laws so I can maximize deductions safely and legally, ensure my clients receive every credit they are rightfully owed, and most importantly, never apply credits or information that could come back to hurt them later.
For me, it’s bigger than just filing taxes—it’s about protecting my clients, educating them, and making sure they don’t end up in situations that could have been avoided with the right knowledge and care.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Barber’s Tax And Credit Repair LLC?
At the core, my business, Barber’s Tax & Credit Repair, is built on education, accuracy, and long-term financial stability for my clients. We’re not just a seasonal tax office—we’re a year-round financial service provider focused on helping individuals and businesses stay compliant, maximize their earnings, and build stronger financial foundations.
We specialize in individual and business tax preparation, particularly for self-employed individuals, entrepreneurs, and gig workers who often get overlooked or misinformed. In addition to tax preparation, we offer credit repair, tax resolution, and debt consolidation services, allowing us to support our clients from multiple angles—not just at tax time.
What truly sets us apart is our commitment to doing things the right way. In an industry where shortcuts and misinformation can cause serious financial damage, we focus on accuracy over speed and education over quick transactions. I’ve built my reputation on making sure my clients:
* Receive every deduction and credit they legally qualify for
* Avoid risky or false claims that could lead to audits or penalties
* Understand their financial situation, not just sign paperwork
Unfortunately, many clients come to us after being put in difficult situations by inexperienced or careless preparers. What we’re known for is fixing those issues, restoring trust, and guiding clients correctly moving forward.
Brand-wise, what I’m most proud of is the trust and loyalty we’ve built. Clients don’t just come to us for a one-time service—they stay because they know we genuinely care about their outcomes. My location at 3060 Napier Ave in Macon, GA has been a major part of that growth, giving us a strong presence in the community while also serving clients nationwide.
Beyond taxes, I’ve expanded into other ventures like Rhasi’s Slay & Lay Medical Spa and Garden Of Es Natural Remedies, which reflect my passion for helping people improve their lives in different ways—financially, physically, and holistically.
What I want people to know about my brand is simple:
We stand on integrity, knowledge, and results.
When you work with us, you’re not just getting a service—you’re getting someone who is committed to protecting your future, doing things the right way, and helping you grow.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
My view on risk is that it should be calculated, not careless. I don’t believe in jumping into things blindly, but I do believe that growth requires you to step outside of what’s comfortable and familiar.
One of the biggest risks I took was leaving the security of working under an established tax company after three years to start my own business. At that point, I had knowledge, but I didn’t yet have the full client base, brand recognition, or guaranteed income. Stepping out on my own meant betting on myself—my skills, my work ethic, and my ability to build something from the ground up. That decision ultimately paid off and allowed me to grow into not just a tax preparer, but a business owner.
Another major risk was securing my own location at 3060 Napier Ave in Macon, GA. Taking on a physical space comes with overhead, responsibility, and pressure to perform consistently. But that move turned out to be a game changer for my business—it gave me visibility, credibility, and a stronger connection to my community.
I also took risks by expanding beyond one business, launching Rhasi’s Slay & Lay Medical Spa and Garden Of Es Natural Remedies. Diversifying into different industries required learning new things, investing resources, and trusting my ability to execute in unfamiliar spaces.
Overall, I approach risk with a balance of faith and strategy. I do my research, understand the potential outcomes, and make sure I’m prepared—but I don’t let fear stop me from moving forward. I’ve learned that the biggest risk is often not taking one at all, especially when you know you’re capable of more.
