Hidden Gems: Meet William Donley of Dream Sound Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to William Donley.

Hi William, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My origins of music came from the church, singing in the choir, playing the drums, etc. I also went to a performance arts middle school in high school, which led me to getting a full scholarship to sing in a collegiate choir at a HBCU and at that HBCU is where I started to produce learn how to make beats and learn how to record. From then I knew I wanted to be fully emerge in the music scene where they would be managing or creating, etc.. I ended up starting a record label and travel a lot with my artist, taking them from Texas to Los Angeles, etc. I ended up residing in my hometown of Kansas City, Missouri for a few years where I put in more hours as an audio Engineer and then I knew I wanted to open up a commercial studio in a more prominent music location so in 2019 I packed up everything in a few of my friends and we drove down to Atlanta not knowing what that venture would bring. And after four years of learning, the music scene and putting in work, I was able to open a commercial studio in Cobb County. For three years, I built my brand, dreamsoundstudios and was able to secure a larger location on the south side of Atlanta in which I had my grand reopening for the brand, December six 2025.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There has been a ton of struggles along the way from losing friends in the process, Money struggles, but by keeping the faith stay resilient, and knowing that I have a mission I have to complete is what has kept me going. I came down here with seven of us in 2019 in fast-forward to 2026 it’s only two of us

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My business is built around creating opportunity, culture, and high-quality sound. I’m the owner of Dream Sound Studio, where we provide professional recording services for artists at every level—from beginners finding their voice to seasoned creatives polishing their sound.

What we specialize in is not just recording music, but helping artists bring their vision to life. That includes engineering, production, creative direction, and creating an environment where people feel comfortable enough to be their most authentic selves. We’ve also built a strong community through events like beat battles, producer linkups, and artist showcases, which help creatives connect, grow, and actually move forward in their careers.

What sets us apart is our balance of quality and accessibility. A lot of studios either feel intimidating or overpriced—we’ve worked hard to create a space that feels professional but still welcoming and affordable. We understand the grind because we’re part of the culture, not just servicing it.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the community we’ve built. Dream Sound isn’t just a studio—it’s a hub. People come here not only to record, but to network, collaborate, and elevate. Seeing artists build real relationships and grow their careers from connections made in our space is what means the most to me.

I want people to know that when they come to Dream Sound Studio, they’re not just booking time—they’re investing in an experience. We’re here to help you sound better, move smarter, and take your craft seriously. Whether you need studio time, collaboration, or a place to lock in and create, we provide that foundation.

How do you think about happiness?
Helping others and seeing other people win, especially if they haven’t believed in themselves or feel like they’re the only dog I’d love to see the underdog become the victor
